Default Attaching a sling point to a hollow buttstock'd rifle???

Wasn't sure which forum to post this but here goes:

Recently bought a Ruger 10/22 TD and want to put a sling on it. I read on other forums dedicated to the 10/22 that folks have actually called Ruger and not gotten a satisfactory reply to the question of:

How to attach the sling (sling adaptor hardware) to the buttstock (correct terminology?)?

What I have done so far is to purchase and swap out the factory barrel band with the following item:
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...ls_o00_s00_i00

The switch was easy peassy (now I have to see if my rifle is still zero'd in).

This has allowed me to attach the following sling to the front of the rifle:

The problem now is that the stock is hollow and there is NO thicker area of plastic to attach the hardware to.........EXCEPT maybe to the area (no name?) closest to the "T" in the word "trigger guard" in the following picture:

    -----------------------------------------------------

Some have suggested knocking off the butt plate and placing in the stock - a piece of wood to attach a screw to - which would come in from the outside.....under the stock where the normal place would be for attaching the sling hardware.

I was hoping someone would have encountered this issue before and has a "perfect" solution.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts!

I assume you have removed the butt plate since you say there is no thicker space.

There are sling attachments that use a "machine bolt and nut" instead of a screw. This would work unless the stock is actually ultra thin like you seem to be saying.

Or maybe use a normal wood screw one and then epoxy it in the inside where the threads come poking through?

Acraglas maybe to fill in part of the stock?

Sorry I can't get more specific, I've yet to check out a stock on one of these very closely yet.

    Thank you for the thoughts!

Seems the epoxy thought is the way of things.
