Default Four Philly officers @ wawa Bensalem

I just walked into the Wawa on Street Road in Bensalem and four PPD were walking in directly across froom me in dress blues. I held the door for them with my strong side showing and they all saw I was carrying. None of them said a word. I asked the last guy why they diddn't use plugs in the base of their grips and he looked at my glock and said he use to but he was told to take it out because if the mag has a problem you can stick your thumb into the hole and use it as leverage to rip the mag out. I never thought about that and was surprised. He couldn't have been more than 25 years old and came off as a really nice person. The other three just went about there business. No asking for i.d. or anything else. Good encounter. And I learned something today.

....and then they shot you, right?

I've never heard about using the hole in the grip to rip out a magazine.

He's absolutely right. If you have a malfunction (other than failure to extract or stove pipe) rip that SOB out and let it fall on the ground. That's what reloads are for. Don't push the mag release and shake the gun to get it to drop or start fondling the mag base hoping to put it in a pouch. Many types of malfunctions or damage make mags fail to drop free.

    Glad he didn't shoot you.

Considering that they were out of their jurisdiction, it would have taken an amazing amount of asshattery from one of them to harass you for OC.

You realize, it's PPD we are talking about, right? Tremendous amound of asshattery has never been an issue with them.

This officer took the time to answer my question when he could have just blown me off. He was young and in dress blues, probably on his way to a funtion ie.. awards ceremony, graduation, funeral. On duty or off I don't care, he answered my question as a gentelman and I learned something today. +1. Hell with all the bashing +2, Lets not let the younger generation slip into the foot print of the old guard. I should have been more astute and noted or asked nicely one or more of the five w's, but I was actualy starteled by his respone, acurate, clear, and to the point. I don't see that much anymore.

Nice hear! I'm glad everything went so well for you.
These are the times that try men's souls: The summer soldier and the sunshine patriot will, in this crisis, shrink from the service of their country; but he that stands it now, deserves the love and thanks of man and woman. Tyranny, like hell, is not easily conquered; yet we have this consolation with us, that the harder the conflict, the more glorious the triumph. What we obtain too cheap, we esteem too lightly: it is dearness only that gives every thing its value. Thomas Paine 1776

Sounds like the encounter was initiated by the OP

SteelcityK9, is there a post on the Police Officer forums about an open carrier that started harassing the officer for no reason??

I too heard about using that hole in the mag well for ripping stuck mags out.. Never encountered that problem though.
The problem with shooting Chinese bullets is 15 minutes later you wanna shoot again.
