    Default shipping live ammo

I see a lot of guy's selling live ammo in several forums I visit. What is the legal way to ship it? Alway's thought it had to be marked hazardous material.

I've had it sent to me via UPS mostly and it's marked ORD.

The average person can ship ammo via a common carrier (UPS, FedEx, DHL, local trucking company). The box has to be marked ORD-M. You will have to follow the rules of the company that you use to ship it.

also I've found that (at least with UPS) you have to take the ammo to the depot, not a local branch office. But they have no problem with you shipping

Other Regulated Materials - Domestic (ORM-D) means anything that can be hazardous, but doesn't need to be placarded because it doesn't meet the weight requirements... Now shipping a literal ton (2,000 lbs.) of ammo, yeah, you would need a contracted Hazmat carrier and a driver with a Haz-Mat endorsement... And no, you can't afford me... lol

I believe that if you ship an airbag, you need to mark it ORM-D....FWIW.

    Just minor off track.

If you're going to be shipping any type of gun, ammo, etc. (gun related) DO NOT take it to a UPS or FedEx satellite station (Office Depot, Staples, Kinko's, etc.) they do not know what to do or even what is allowed (in most cases). The easiest is to just take it to the main shipping/receiving point. The people there will (should) know what to do. If they don't, don't argue with the desk clerk, immediately ask for the manager/supervisor, they will know. This happened to me (I'm a FFL) and the new clrk got a quick lesson on how to handle these types of shipments and after that I had no problems.

Quick question, so I don't have to start a new thread...sorry to hijack though.

But when receiving live ammo, do the shipments need to be signed for by an adult? I just ordered some and expected to have to pick it up tonight. But I checked the tracking number and it said that it was delivered. Whats the deal?
