Default Looking like this will be a good bear season

My mom took this picture from the back window of her house. it looks like Bears are returning to the Harrisburg Area. This is the only pic we got so far, but aside form this BIG female and 3 cubs, we know there is a smaller female with 2 cubs, and at least 2 350+lb males. and according to my cousin a male a few miles away that is in his words "easily 400lbs"

We haven't seen any on this side of the mountain until last year. We heard stories about them crossing the mountain from Fishing Creek Valley, but until recently I thought it was just a super rare occurrence.

I really want to try bear hunting, but I don't know where to go. I was under the impression that there went many in this area, and I don't know anyone that lives in places that could point me to the right area. Maybe if they get more prevalent around here eventually I'll get a chance to go.

My trail cam snapped 1 pic of a 400 pounder a few nights ago.

I have seen many a bear in SGL 211 during deer/small game/turkey seasons or just hiking, but never hunted bear there as I go to camp for that. My dad had a nice one run up behind him and wind him at 15 yards and turn and run 2 seasons ago in deer season and I saw a BIG one walk across in front of me on the main trail/road through the valley during the second week of rifle deer last year about 2 miles back from the gate, and I know more then a couple are harvested there each year.

Bears have always lived around Harrisburg, they just get mistaken for other wildllife etc...I've never seen a bear on SGL 211 but I've seen tons of sign over the years.

I did have an encounter with a six hundred plus pound sow a few times near the Dauphin/Lebanon County line. I saw here twice, pretty sure it was the same sow.

Glad to see such an awesome lil pack of bears, sow + three cubs...awesome.

We have 2 running around our hood causing all sorts of mischief. Garbage cans bird feeder and anything else they want to put their nose in. Went for a walk with my dog up into SGL 312 about a week ago and ran into a sow with to cubs from last year. Hope to see what got her pregnant this year.
