    Default Snubbie Question/S&W

Is the S&W 442 and 642 the same gun? I was thinking maybe the 642 was the updated model, but I don't know......

I see that they are both J frames, and the specs seem to be the same unless I am missing something.

Also, am I the only guy that likes the looks of the 36LS Lady Smith????? What can I say....I think it's a pretty gun, and I think I want it......................

    Thanks

Same gun, different finish. The 442 is black, and the 642 is silver.
I like the Lady Smiths also (don't tell anybody ) I just wish they didn't say "Lady Smith" on them

The 642 is on the left with Crimson trace grips and the 442 on the right.

    Thank you for the info!!!

Does your 642 have custom grips? It looks like it has a longer grip than the 442 in the picture......

One of these guns will be my next......I may even get the Lady Smith........That should be a site, my wife shooting her Ruger GP100 and me my Lady Smith at the range..........

I just got a 642 for Christmas. I like it very much. The Lady Smith is very comfortable to grasp. If I didn't have such a "macho" ego, I would not be ashamed to carry something that said "Lady" on it. The 642 above has the Crimson Trace Laser grip. It is a bit longer.

Very nice pics.....I love to see pics of the next gun I will be getting....

Why couldn't they make a Lady Smith in a MR. Smith version?????? Same gun, different name.....

Oh well, I just may go with the Lady Smith......My story will be: She is the only woman that stayed by my side through the "Good" and the "Bad" (or by my ankle as the case would be)........Yeahhhhh, that will be my line to all those macho guys at the range.........

It doesnt say Lady Smith on it any longer. My wife and I both love the 642 with the Crimson Trace grips. The grip is more comfortable than the standard grip.

    .........
Go to the Smith & Wesson web site:
    http://www.smith-wesson.com/

Spend some time poking around the site. I found the grips I wanted for a K-frame that had been made a round butt from a square butt.

Here is an older model of this pistol. It is a Model 37 I think. Picked it up used in a gun shop. First carry gun I bought. It now sports a Clip Draw also so I can carry it on the hip if I wanted to. I think this was the original spurless model, but I"m not sure. I know this one doesn't say +P on the barrel.
