I'm putting several hundred rounds every range trip, I do a cleaning like that every 2500 rounds and a normal cleaning when I get home from the range.

Who cleans their glock? Shoot it 10K rounds, if it gets too dirty go buy another. I wouldn't waste my time cleaning one.

I take the striker out of my M&P in the same way. Every six months or so or if I take a training class and shoot allot at one time.

I do that sort of thing when it appears fouled...I'm resistant to using anything others than a cotton swab with a tiny bit of solution on the lower of my pistol...just seems as though spraying and brushing only forces dirt and powder further into the guts of the gun.
