Well I have gone to this store before. When it was called Trop Gun Shop. It was a good store back then and it is even better now. There are still some of the same guys there, but they know their stuff.

Went in there this morning and had a pleasurable experience. Purchased a Kel Tec PF9. PICS was a breeze and they helped me out a ton. Let me hold get a good feel between the P11 and PF9, but I chose the PF9. Then I was escorted to the ammo and was helped out there by the same guy who sold me the PF9. Also showed my some holsters to boot.

The shops layout is so much better since the new management has taken over. It really breaths and flows so much better. Everyone is friendly and helpful. Their selection of firearms is nice and so is their line of ammo and accessories.

Will be doing business with them again!

Well new Trops is quite different than the original version. The New Trops is borderline shady they play games with their on line sales ( ghost bidding ) and they also pull this little customer service nugget....they make notification lists for hard to get guns....they get the guns and don't call any of the customers and sell the guns online, another shady deal is that employees will make a buy offer for the shop and then tell the customer they will pay more to do a " private sale ". And proceed to do just that in the parking lot. ( for themselves presumably ) But they are going to be moving to a bigger location soon so expect the high prices to get higher.

Stopped going there many years ago, prices were way too high and service was horrible. Haven't been there since new management but from what I heard their prices are still bit on the high side. But I still will not shop there.

I wasnt a fan of the old Trop but the new one I have one issue. I have yet to see a single Ruger SR1911 in the case for sale to a regular customer but they have sold several on gunbroker.

Guess they'd rather make more profit on gunbroker instead of putting them in the hands of local customers that have supported them for years! Pretty crappy in my book.

Funny you should mention that.....supposed "valued customers" were put on a list for that very pistol ( SR1911) 20 valued customers in fact...the first one on the list was called and got one and one went on the shelf....the remaining 20...yes 20 pistols in stock were going to be sold on line because there is a higher profit margin hawking hard to get guns on the net. So much for being "valued"

The only reason I go there is because they usually have a fair selection of used guns. I hate buying new guns.

I've purchased three used pistols there and I think all of them were fairly priced, one of them even a bargain.

    Everything else though? No thanks.

If I was in the area and needed specialty ammo of some kind I might try them, they do have a large inventory, but aside from that? No thanks.
Selling off a a sizeable Spyderco collection here

Sorry for the thread hijack but if you want to see a good supply of used guns you need to make a trip east towards Philly.

Tanners in Jamison and Surplus City in Feasterville Trevose are great shops for used guns with GREAT PRICES.

Recent purchases I made within the last month at those shops.

    Sig 226 DAK-9 $399 at Tanners

Glock 19--Gen 2--1989 mfg with Austrian Proofs and brand new night sights, $300 at Tanners

    Sig 226 .357sig $425 at Surplus City

I have had very good experiences there, lately. Their ammo pricing CANNOT be beaten in this area. (ex- 115gr Blazer aluminum cased 9mm is $8.99/box) Other than one arrogant clerk (older/shorter gentleman) I have found their in-store pricing on both new and used guns to be good as well.
    (another ex- S&W M&P 9mm Pro 5" was $569)

I was just in their store today and saw quite a few bargains on ammo and long guns, etc. The sales staff seems pleasant enough and haven't come across to me as "know it all's". (with that one exception)

I also know that the new owner (pres?) was on PAFOA recently and seemed pretty receptive to feedback. If I had a gripe or had issues like described above.....I would contact him directly. See if he can explain or help resolve.

I am sure everyone has a different tolerance level for BS. Guess mine might just might be lower than others, that and once you have pissed me off I will not be back, ever. I happy for them if they got their prices in line and treating customers with some respect, but I still will not return to that shop. I have a friend that swears by Trops, even though they lost his pistol for 3 months, yet he still goes there for everything, he must have a very high tolerance for the BS.
