It sucks to have to rely on that, but that is how it is in our hospital also.

Those situations go down badly sometimes, im glad you were unharmed.
They do have a locked room. They don't lock the door if the person is calm.

PD rode in with the ambulane and medic and left after they got to the ER. He was there for 2hours before he snapped

    OK, what's a 302?

Glad you are OK. I have a friend who has been off of work as an EMT for a while after getting hurt fighting with a guy in the ambulance.

That sucks. And it's an involuntary commitment.

You gotta explain this stuff man......like we all know what a "302 pt" means. I thought that was as typo. Plus...being you typed on your phone, the sentence structure was already messed up a bit. Through context, I eventually got the gist of what you were saying....but...yeah. It was confusing at first.

Has a change in protocol for locking the door been brought up?

I asked today. It's against policy to shut the door of they are calm. Once they start to get angry they shut and lock the door.

Maybe think a little when we see six cops trying to control a guy before we pass judgement?
The question is, will you be on your feet or your knees?

As a paratransit driver, I've transported a few 302s and have visited several psych facilities. It goes without saying that a firearm is the last thing one needs with such patients or facilities. They're not responsible for their actions, and with a firearm anywhere nearby they could really, really ruin someone's day. All one can do is remain detached, don't take things personal, and do what is necessary without it getting personal.
