Default Got denied my ltcf :/

Well I got denied my license to carry and I was wondering if there was anything I could do to appeal it. I called and asked for the exact reason and they said it was from something in 2005. It wasn't criminal. I already legally own 2 pistols and 2 rifles. I think it's kinda dumb if I can own guns that I can't carry them and the whole no stop law or wtvr when you go to the range. I asked the lady and she said I could get an attorney. Would it be worth it? How pricey would that be? Anyone have same/similar outcome?

If denied, you must be formally given a written letter describing the reason for denial. You have time (60 days?) to appeal it.

Have you been given a reason in writing?

    § 6109. Licenses.
    (g) Grant or denial of license.--Upon the receipt of an
application for a license to carry a firearm, the sheriff shall,
within 45 days, issue or refuse to issue a license on the basis
of the investigation under subsection (d) and the accuracy of
the information contained in the application. If the sheriff
refuses to issue a license, the sheriff shall notify the
applicant in writing of the refusal and the specific reasons.
The notice shall be sent by certified mail to the applicant at
the address set forth in the application.
Call your sheriff back and point them to this section of the UFA and make them follow the law. Once you know why you were denied you might be able to get some help.

Like said above.......I would wait for the written verification as to why you were denied. If it is not criminal then we all (at least I am) are very curious as to why you were denied.

In my county you need 2 non family references. They receive a letter in the mail from the SO asking questions about you and if you are safe to be issued a LTCF.

Maybe your references said something negative?

If that was the case I doubt they'd reference 2005 but who knows.

The application and process is STANDARD across every county in PA.
ALL Sheriffs must follow the same procedure.

NO Sheriff is allowed to inform your reference that you have applied for a LTCF or that you possess one. In doing that, they broke the law and if anything is further grounds to fight and appeal your denial.

The prohibitors don't necessarily have to be criminal...302's and pfa's come to mind at the moment.

The application process is far from standard across PA. If it was there would be no requirement for in-county references or local police check cards in some counties. All Licenses would be issued inside 45 days, not business days. I realize that by law it is supposed to be standard but it definitely is not.

I realize that, but unless "we" keep driving the point home and prevent ourselves from becoming "comfortable" with the unlawful activity... it will become even more of the norm.

Just because people "glide" through stop signs instead of stopping doesn't mean we should start calling them "Pause" signs.

I'll keep "yelling" how it should be as long as I have to
