    Default $900 sr1911 ???

Now, this isn't meant to be a criticism, more of an inquiry. I was in the classifieds and found a member selling a NIB Ruger SR1911 for $900 firm. Now, my question goes " are these things really selling at this price point ?", or is this price profit motivated ? I'm not saying the op of this ad is out of line, as they may have this much in it, but are dealers jacking the price up this much ? I have had a chance at one or two at msrp pricing, but if a dealer I frequented upped the price like this I think I'd cease to be a customer. Again, curious not critical.

    Asking price =/= selling price.

Whoever is selling that gun is trying to gouge some unsuspecting fool, and hopefully no one here bites. For $900 you can find much better guns that are actually available.

MSRP pricing is absolutely asinine. Wholesale pricing is around $530, so a decent price is around $650.

An LGS in my area was asking MSRP and I would not pay that. The guns are in demand and hard to find so I understand the price gouging. If you are willing to spend $900 on a 1911, there are better choices out there.

I still want one, but I will wait until Ruger gets their production ramped up and then you will see the prices come back down. In the interim I got a Taurus PT1911 in Stainless Steel for $620... great gun.

Right now it's a seller's market and if someone wants to jack up the price, they can. If you are willing to pay $900 for a $600 gun, then that is your mental deficiency. (and when i say "you" I don't mean the OP, just a generalization)

MSRP $799.00 should sell at a dealer for between 580.00 and 650.00 plus tax and PIC.

You can call it price gouging or capitalism depending on your perspective. I wouldn't touch it at that price with a 10 foot pole.

I've seen them going for that much too. When I got mine at the LGS I paid $675, which seems fair. I keep hearing rumors of them selling for less than $600 but nobody I've met has actually bought one for that price. Bottom line, it's a great 1911, but $900 is way too much to pay.

I think you meant to say it is a sellers market

I really really want an SR1911, but hells' no at that price. It is currently a sellers market, but as a buyer,. I can and will say no. Maybe after Ruger get's it's production kinks worked out and there is more product in the stream, prices will get back to the $580-600 realistic realm.

First thing I did was look at the post count, was surprised it was a long term member trying this on here.
That's a lot of money for a gun that costs a lot less than that.
But, as said. if you want it bad enough.....

Ruger does not have production kinks, they simply have more orders for their guns than they can handle.

The price of a gun is whatever the market rate is. It's the same for groceries, gas, and any form of loan. All you can do is to buy a gun that works for you at a price you can afford to pay for it.

It's the same for some of the Keltec guns and availability. Keltec is not a big company and only produces so many guns. Just try finding a Keltec RFB 308 rifle right now for MSRP.
