    Default CLEO Sign-Off in Pittsburgh

I got the run-around for a week from the Pittsburgh PD while trying to get the CLEO sign-off for an AAC suppressor. No luck so I dropped it off at the Sheriff's the next Monday. They called back today saying that everything was good to go - all the ladies in the office there were very helpful.

Just thought I'd pass along my experience. I even got a nasty letter from the Chief of the PPD saying he never has and never will sign off on the forms...

Now for the waiting game... still sitting around 5-6 months?

Right around 6 months,,,, I'll be at 24 weeks on Friday, for a suppressor. I did see a 1928 Thompson went thru in 5 months.

Find something to distract yourself for the next six months.... At least you'll have it for indoor shooting during the winter months.
    George,
So many guns, so little money.

Im getting all my forms together and wondering if I should try my local PD (Peters Township) or go to Washington CO. Sheriff

Thinking the Sheriff might be easier, since they do all the LTCF.

I showed up at the Sheriff's office with my paperwork, dropped it off (along with a set of completed fingerprint cards, and photocopy of my driver's license as requested) and they were signed and ready the next day. I was at work, so they offered to just toss them in the mail to me - got them a day or two later no problem.

Isn't there like a simple org chart that says who you go to? I would think a sheriff would be upset if a lowly city police chief was acting like a CLEO!

who did the fingerprints if not at the Sheriffs?

Did they need to be certified or anything?

Sheriff Romano will sign. I called ahead to make sure I was coming at a good time. When I got there and presented my paperwork, the deputy asked me if I have a LTCF. I said yes. They ran a background check and then signed off. It took about twenty minutes.

I got my prints done at the Washington PSP barracks. Call ahead to make sure someone is available to run the machine. I was told it is best to be there before three. Tell them it is for ATF paperwork. Have your fingerprint cards blank when you bring them in. The machine will fill out all the necessary info.

I had heard that Sheriff Mullen's reluctance to sign was a thing of the past. I just bought a suppressor from Texas, and as soon as my dealer here gets it, he suggested that I go to Mullen for signature.
