    Default New Orleans Mayor

    This is a real photo!

Photo of Nagin with assault weapon raises firestorm

What started out as a press photo opportunity on Tuesday roared into a firestorm Wednesday, as the Times-Picayune photo appearing to show Mayor Ray Nagin laughingly pointing an M4 military assault rifle at Police Chief Warren Riley, also laughing. By early morning, New Orleans was buzzing by talk-show fueled laughter and anger, criticizing the mayor for pointing a gun at another human, criticizing the newspaper for publishing the picture, and creating humorous dialog for the photo. The story and photo that were blogged onto NOLA.com by the Times-Picayune had reached nearly 200 comments by mid-morning.

The fact that one moron is pointing a gun at another moron does not bother me.

The fact that my tax dollars are equipping a known gun confiscating police department with state of the art carbines does.

Notice the armored car in the back ground. They should be forced to use one of those abandoned school buses for transportation to and from bouts of violating citizens civil liberties.

To re elect the criminal that abandoned his constituents to the hurricane was a telling example of the mind set of the population of New Orleans.

If it disaster ever strikes that city again, they get nothing from me but "I told you so".
