Re: Surrounded by Pittsburgh Police. Recorded.
The part that pisses me off and why I support oc so much is as what vapochilled said, they don't know or understand the law or the scope of their authority. They talk over and down to people, demand respect and compliance, when all they need to do is remain calm and get some verification on their and your actions.

Re: Surrounded by Pittsburgh Police. Recorded.
Well handled sprrdhawk44!
Also, perhaps you can clarify. But I think the officer who made the NRA comment was one of the ones who knew the laws regarding OC? It seems like some of the comments here are confusing which cops were which.
I'm sorry, but I have to neg rep that comment. I didn't find it humorous. They may be 'just dogs' but they are also officers of the law. So that comment is no different than saying 'you should've just shot the cops'. I find it to be in poor taste for not only the firearms community but especially the OC community.

Just an aside, they are only "officers of the law" when a citizen kills them, but when a LEO kills one, then they're just dogs.

Re: Surrounded by Pittsburgh Police. Recorded.
Positive rep incoming later due to the neg you've received for it.
I didn't find it funny, but it points to a serious issue. Police dogs shouldn't be exalted like police officers when they are used to intimidate and harass law-abiding citizens. I don't think there should be any penalty for injuring or killing an attacking dog when it is unleahsed upon someone unlawfully and in a clear abuse of power. Granted in the OP's situation that would have been completely unnescessary as the dogs weren't sent to attack, but they were clearly abused by the PD in a way that, in my opinion, ought to be criminal.
In this case if the dogs are to be considered officers than we can consider them thugs, personally thoguh I blame the handlers and I think they ought to be fired, stripped of pension/pay, and tossed in jail for a bit.

Re: Surrounded by Pittsburgh Police. Recorded.
Mike Lafferty seemed to understand the law. He was friendly and professional, unlike the other Officers. The other Mike in particular, who asked me a question, and then yelled at me to talk to the female instead of him. He also was the one who told us all about the number of Officers on scene. While he may not have payed attention on Firearms Law Day in the academy, he was certainly listening on Counting People Day.There's no such thing as a free lunch.
