question about glock 23
Yesterday I bought a brand new g23 gen 3 rtf. I noticed if I load all 13 rounds in the mag and insert it on a closed slide I cant rack the slide? Is this because its brand new? Has anyone else had a similar problem? Or should I call glock about this? Thanks for any help

Re: question about glock 23
I have the same gun and have not had this problem or any others for that matter. Question; does it only do this with 13 rnds in the magazine?

Re: question about glock 23
I'd make sure all the rounds were aligned 1st. Take the magazine and smack it against something soild not metal. Then load the mag and release the slide. If that doesn't work take round out and try if that work reload the bullet and run it until it breaks in. Another check is make sure there is not 14 rounds stuffed in the mag.
I have a Gen 3 Glock 23 and it runs flawless and its pretty accurate it feels like a 9mm +ps to me to shoot. I never had that problem. If it still aproblem after that send it to Glock they will fix it, or take it back to your Gun dealer Glcok has it setup that they will fix it if you paid teh $20 for the insurance and they will ship it free if they can't fix it.

Re: question about glock 23
OK, I would try what NEKO456 said. Make sure the rounds are lined up by gently bumping the mag against something. I would try different ammo as well. But really it should work anyway.Im somewhat baffled on this one. I really dont think its a matter of it needing 'broken in' but I suppose its possible. Id put a box of ammo through it and see what happens. Im no Glock fan but these things are about indestructible in my opinion. That 13th round HAS to be protruding out of the mag some how. Factory mag right? Keep me posted!

Re: question about glock 23
Yes its a factory mag and i always tap my mags its a habit lol. Like I said it works fine if the slide Is open and i drop it, and it will chamber from a closed slide with 12 in it. I'm at work now ill give her another shot on my lunch break. Possibly I wasn't pulling hard enough(but I was pulling pretty hard) thanks for the advice I'll keep ya posted

Re: question about glock 23
It's from the mags being new they are pushing the rounds up into the bottom of the slide and making it difficult to move if you give it a good rip it should work just fine. My G23 did the same thing until the first range trip. Nothing to worry about

Re: question about glock 23
Glocks have some really stiff springs.
Take the mag apart, make sure it's clean and the follower travels fully, you may be experiencing spring bind. Then go out and shoot it.
About the only thing that need breaking in on a Glock is the mags.

Re: question about glock 23
I would chamber a round then top off the mag and see if it cycles when fired. Also keep your mags fully loaded and in a safe place until you are ready to take it to the range. This may help break in the springs. As a side note, never dedicate any gun for self defense until it has been thoroughly tested.
