You might want to look at accepting donations for those who wish to contribute as the forum grows. Another forum I frequent listed members vs supporting members. Just a thought. I personally like to finacially support places of interest to me to keep them going!

Also the tee shirts and such can help pay the expenses here as well.

Rifle raffles work well too. Recently there was a raffle on another site I frequent, they made enough money to cover cost of rifle and pay site fees and software upgrades for 2 years. All the owner does is disclose the costs of operation *hosting, tech support, etc.* every couple of months to show where the money is going. Everyone buys tickets during a set period of time, when time is met and ticket purchases are stopped, then a board is created with numbers. Board *jpg format* is posted with numbered blocks and members choose numbers on a first come first serve basis. After all blocks are filled, the owner did a live video feed of pulling a number and the winner was declared. Great success really. There were even *door prizes* so to speak. Someone donated a bayonet, another a bipod, etc. Number was pulled for each of those as well. The members were happy to donate to the cause and have a chance to win a prize as well. If ya would like more info on this and how it was put together, etc. just gimme a yell.

All great ideas guys, the raffle would actually be extremely easy since we're all in the same state. T-Shirts I want to do just because it would be fun, but using them to ofset the costs of maintaining the site isn't a bad idea.
When it really comes down to it I created this website because I wanted a resource for PA gun owners, so I was planning on just running it out of pocket, but if members want to help out that would be awesome. I'll start brainstorming the idea.Dan P, Founder & President, Pennsylvania Firearm Owners Association

there aren't really any hosting expenses, as this forum is hosted for Free on a dedicated Unix server at ServerCentral.
though the vBulletin license wasn't free, I don't really think that the PAFOA is a profit thing.. It's more about having a useful community of firearm enthusiasts who care about political issues in the State of Pennsylvania.
It's also about having fun, and sharing information and ideas.. and maybe some GUN PORN!
