"That's a nice gun...you got a permit for that?"
Yesterday morning, on my way up to my girlfriend's place to celebrate Easter and my birthday, I stopped off at the Towamencin PD to file for a copy of the report from the prior day's OC encounter, largely just out of curiosity to see how they wrote it up. After I left, I hadn't been driving for 6 minutes when a Towamencin patrol cruiser pulled me over.
Nice timing, isn't it?
Anyway, he says I violated the PA motor vehicle code. I have a dashcam that says otherwise and is going to save me $111 bucks, but I don't want to post the video quite yet - I'm saving that for after I get the infraction dropped.
Anyway, towards the end of the stop, after the officer gave me my driver's license back, I wanted to put it away instead of holding it in my hand for the rest of the interaction. I asked him if he was okay with me putting my wallet back in my pocket, and he said , "Sure."
In order to do so, I had to lean to my right, exposing my OCed Glock.
"That's a nice gun...you got a permit for that?"
"I sure do have a License."
"May I see it?"
"Since I'm in my vehicle, sure."
"You sure seem to know your stuff."
"Have to!"
I handed him my Utah permit.
"When did you live in Utah?"
"I didn't - I just got that permit for the extra reciprocity."
"Oh...isn't it like, thirteen extra states or something for Utah?"
"Oh, I don't recall the specifics - all I was concerned about was Delaware and Ohio, since they don't honor PA's license. I have friends out those ways and I like to stay legal."
"Oh, okay." And he handed it back to me.
Maybe a part of me wanted to see what would happen, but I didn't have any reason to believe that he was going to order me out or anything like that since he'd been perfectly professional and polite up until that point. Like I said, the violation is going to get thrown out, but I do wonder about the timing of this whole thing.

Dude, you are a magnet. I never seem to even get casual non police encounters much anymore but every time you leave the house you're talking to 5-0
I would advise you never to hang out with Jahwarrior. The resulting cosmic gravitational attraction would draw every officer in the state to your location
Can't wait to see the video and hear the full story. If you don't know who your state legislators are go here:

Don't talk to the police!
Seems well handled. I think you're the last guy any cop on a fishing expedition is going to jam up because of licensure issues.

You are truly an advocate for change. How you find the time to make all these court appearances is beyond me. I've been licensed since 1975, and have never had one issue. Even with the back window of my truck looking like a billboard for the NRA I seem to escape scrutiny!

Hi Viper,
Glad you are staying on top of all these interactions. Any chance you could recommend/suggest regarding a good dashcam? I have thought it would be a good thing to have but don't know much about it. Any advice would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Marlin60

HD GoPro2.
Get the kit with the suction cup mount and buy a 16 or 32 GB SD card to record to.

Out of curiosity, what did he pull you over for? I don't mean to pry, but I'm wondering what he claimed you did, that your vid could prove otherwise.

You should carry a crappy gun so they don't ask for your permit.
