Default Making my own MOLLE shotgun rig!

I make a lot of shotgun shell cards for my stocks out of bandoleers and velcro and I decided to try something different tonight. Instead of attaching velcro to the back of the 7 round card, I attached a vertical MOLLE strap and button from a Voodoo scabbard that was rotting in my closet. I have all the materials ready to make a second one tomorrow night (I don't want to do anymore sewing tonight) and I'm also thinking of creating a velcro MOLLE platform with the webbing I salvaged from the scabbard. If I did that, I could attach anything with a velcro backing so I wouldn't be limited to shotgun shells. I could do half shotgun shells and the other half could be some pistol or rifle magazines, a knife, etc. I was able to get three platforms off of the scabbard so I could make a few of these, the fourth I ruined with some initial trial and error.

Everything I've been working on tonight . . . My carpet is a mess from all the cutting I did.

The back of my modular platform project.

Put some velcro on here and then I can use it for anything!

7 round vertical MOLLE shotgun shell holder. I can't wait to try it out! I used Gorilla glue to reinforce the stitching so I'll let it dry overnight and test it tomorrow before work.

These are all the parts of the vertical shell holder. I'll wait until I know the design worked for the first one before I spend another couple of hours assembling the second.

More updates and photos to come . . .

The shotgun rig is done! I also replaced the shoulder straps on the vest. They were really wide and horribly uncomfortable cross straps so I cut those off, sewed on some buckles and set it up so it rests on the back of my neck. I wouldn't do that with my M4 rig though because six 30 round magazines and six pistol magazines weigh a lot. It's lightweight, I can carry a ton of ammo and it's actually very comfortable! Sweet!

27 shotgun shells, 8 round forearm shell holder, four pistol magazine pouches and dump pouch. I made an extra vertical 7 rounder that I probably won't use because I ran out of space. I could put it on the far right side but then it would get in the way of my sidearm.

    Good idea and nice work.

If I had a sewing machine I give that a try.

Thanks! I don't have a sewing machine. I did it all by hand.

Well then, you deserve even more credit.

I have more than 20 years on you and my hands couldn't handle that.

    Keep thinking.
And honestly, that's a good enough idea that I think you should approach Blackhawk or Voodoo.

Those would look good on one of those molle equipped shotgun scabbards.
