    Default Tromix saiga 12 upgrades...

I had the plain 19" saiga with teh muzzle nut, so I added some stuff.
Tony did the pistolgrip conversion for me last year, so I just put the shark brake/ standoff/ "core sampling" device on, and installed the folding stock, with the tangless install block.

I also ground the hammer bump of the US parts for better cycling(to match the contour of the russkie hammer), and followed his notes on the Saiga 12 forum regarding gas issues...my one of 4 gas ports was occluded by the gas block, which is, I believe, the problem with cycling the cheap bulk pack loads. so I removed the gas block, redrilled all 4 to the recommended spec, now all are in the gas block port opening.

looks damn good, gotta go out, try it, and reset the sights.

I may have to get the HK sights for it:P

cant wait til my DRUMS get here!

So why is the font sight so far back from the muzzle?

I'm also chomping at the bit for the drums

She's no Tromix, but I don't think I did too bad

I'm not done with mine yet, I need to get the barrel chopped a bit, threaded and I want to replace the handguard with the Russian railed one. I got a set of raised sights like that on the way and they might even be there this weekend so I can work on it.

I honestly don't get the hype for the drums. Sure it'd be awesome to have 20rds and the streetsweeper configuration but given the price for the drum, and $32 for 10rd mags, it seems the mags are a much much much better investment.

sight is far back from when i was doing measuring to see where the sight would be if I was able to get the barrel trimmed, and brake reattached to make a 18.5" barrel.

When i shot it like that, i preferrd the slightly shorter sight radius for faster aiming.
If I get the HK sights, it wont matter

as for the drums, ITS A DRUM, thats why the "hype"...theres something about 20 rds of 1oz slugs in rapid fire that REALLY hammers a car at a MG shoot

that and they werent that bad when i ordered back in Sept, at $165 each.

    cant wait for the drums!

To each their own. I can see how it would be a lot of fun but for the $$$ I rather have the added reliability of multiple 10 rounders and practice my rapid reloads.

With betamags holding 100rd for about $210 and AK 75rd drums for $110 I see more value.

BTW you may be interested in those metal saiga 12 drums on gunbroker. They are $300 but they are metal, skeleton frame and look pretty badass.

apparently the metal drums dent if dropped, and worse, the skeleton frame lets in debris that stops th guns up.

not a good idea, I thouth we all learned that with the Chauchat mag in WW1

I have multiple 10rd mags, about 12 of them, so i'm good on that front, and, comments on "reliability", I doubt the stick will be less or more reliable than the drum.
