When the ammo costs more than the rifle... :)
8x56r is practically nonexistant but boxer primed brass does exist now.
The Styer M95 cost 100$...
-100 pieces of PPU brass and 200 Hornady .330 bullets (unique diameter for the 8x56r) cost another 100$
- RCBS 2-die set, 140$
I think i've finally lost it lol. But reloading is too much fun

According to my book, "The Handloader's Manual Of Cartridge Conversions" there are two 8X56R cartridges. The 8X56R Hungarian Manlicher and the 8X56R Kropatchek.
If yours is the Hungarian, you can get a set of Lee Pacesetter dies (Limited production) for $35.98. That'll save you about $100.00 right away.

(I have several sets of Lee dies, I actually prefer them over RCBS and Lyman, no need to be concerned about lack of quality because of the lower price.)

Re: When the ammo costs more than the rifle... :)
I just ordered a set of Lee 8X56 Hungarian FL dies from Graf & Sons My C&R dealer price was $21.39 + shipping. Graf wants $24.99 (C&R price ) for 100 bullets in .330 diameter. Graf also has loaded Hornady ammo for this caliber at $20.99 per box of 20 ( C&R price). Give them a call for retail prices.
I have about 500 rounds of Nazi era ammo for it ( actually have two of them ), but figured if the ammo supply dries up I have the dies.
Some people have reported decent luck using .323 bullets that do not have a boat tail. That could help keep the cost down.

I think it's save to say that at some point the ongoing cost of ammo will always exceed the initial cost of either a rifle or a handgun.
The only real variable is when.Vortex
