Crossbow Question...
I was told you can only hunt with a crossbow in archery season if you have a disability but you can hunt with a crossbow in regular deer season. I was also told you can hunt with a crossbow during muzzleloader season and during flintlock as long as you have a muzzleloader stamp.
Can anyone verify this?
Is there any other time you can hunt with a crossbow?

Last season I hunted with an Excalibur Crossbow. I live in Chester Co. and you can use a crossbow in 5C for the entire archery season. If you live in Lancaster Co. and are planning on hunting in Lancaster, you can only use the crossbow during the early muzzleloader season with ml stamp. I am not sure if the game commission will make any changes for the 2006 hunting season. If you want a crossbow, I would highly recommend the Excalibur line...they are the best recurve. The ten points are nice but very expensive and louder than the Excalibur.

Re: Crossbow Question...
I use a Crossbow to hunt.
Bow/compound bow/Cross bow are interchangeable words for Archery use according to the PAGC.

Look at Deer Archery
Originally Crossbows were going to be added for handicap only. There is a move to restrict the days a crossbow can be used but I do not see it happening.
I get Resident / Archery / Muzzleloader and a doe permit every year.
With these stamps I can use the following weapons:
Regular deer season - Crossbow/ muzzie (flint or percussion) / rifle /shotgun / pistol / I believe but am not sure about inline blackpowder
Archery - Cross bow
Early blackpowder - cross bow / any .44 cal or larger muzzleloader
Late blackpowder/flintlock - cross bow / FLINTLOCK muzzleloader

You can always use a more primative weapon in a season, but never a more advanced.. so
bow during muzzleloader ok..
percussion muzzleloader during flintlock - NOT OK
You must have a stamp for the season you are hunting regardless of the weapon used.. Muzzleloader stamp for using a bow in Muzzie season.Last edited by Parrisk; April 10th, 2014 at 04:02 PM.

Nothing like bringing back an 8 year old thread to add nothing to the conversation.
