Opinionated cop encounter
I just got home from the sheetz in emigsville where I ran into an opinionated cop. It was somewhat of a negative encounter but it could have been much worse. I was just standing in line waiting for my food when...
Cop: Sir? *motions me over*
Me: Yes?
Cop: Do you have your concealed carry permit?
Me: Yes.
Cop: Then why don't you conceal? Why do you carry like that (open carry)? Do you want the attention?
Me: Because I can.
Cop: Don't give me that. I know the law and I know the constitution. But why don't you conceal. Your going to get a lot of attention in the malls and parks or wherever you go.
Me: Duly noted (obvious sarcasm)
Cop: I suggest you conceal that like everybody else.
Me: Are we done?
Cop: Yea.
From there I went back to waiting for my food. I think its note worthy that I had my strong side to him for about 5 minutes. But it wasn't until his partner came in that he made contact. I didn't get his name but he was a York county regional.Practicing free speech outside of the designated free speech zones.

Re: Opinionated cop encounter
He was probably offended that you didn't offer him a doughnut.
At least you both went home safe...
I have actually complained to Sheetz twice about the cops that lurk in their stores.
Didn't do any good, and I maybe hit a Sheetz once a month if that now.
Lots of other stores can use my business.

He'd be surprised we don't get that much attention at all. Why do you carry like that? Lol

Re: Opinionated cop encounter
Complain to Sheetz? LOL... what are they supposed to do, ban all LEOs?
Did you try contacting the head of their department?
I spend an enormous amount of time at Sheetz. I hate their coffee, I hate their hot dogs. Their sammiches and salads are OK. The vast majority of Leo encounters I have had were standing in a Sheetz, all positive non-encounters.
Do you guys bathe?
.While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

Rules are written in the stone,
Break the rules and you get no bones,
all you get is ridicule, laughter,
and a trip to the house of pain.

Don't you guys have Wawa out there?
Wawa is awesome. I bet Wawa cops are better than Sheetz cops. LOL."Stupid people are ruining America." --Herman Cain

Re: Opinionated cop encounter
Note the bold and what I highlighted in red.
You do NOT have a concealed carry permit, you have a LICENSE TO CARRY FIREARMS (which it says on your license).
I'm not a grammar nazi or anything, just that it should be called exactly what it is ya know? (I only say it because Ive had more than one argument with people I knew about that. The whole "You ahve to conceal because its a concealed weapons license" etc) ALSO, I AM however glad that he didnt demand to see your LTCF... And +1 for OCing.Last edited by SteveinNEPA; March 24th, 2012 at 12:29 AM.
