    Default MOE Finished Lower

Well folks, my MOE LPK came in from PSA and it is pretty sweet! I got it put together in about 45 minutes (10 of that was looking for the pivot pin detent that launched into orbit and splashed down somewhere in my dining room carpet) Oddly, the hardest part was installing the selector switch. I had to tap down on the switch barrel in order to get it to go into the other side of the receiver. Seems like the trigger was pressing up against it and yes, I did have the hammer cocked and switch in FIRE position. But a little gentle persuasion and it snapped into place! Now I just need to find a new detent pin for the take down pin. Here is a craptastic cell phone pic!

Looks good. I'll give you assemblers a tip from my old wrenching days about keeping track of flying parts. Get an old minnow net ( preferably the largest you can get) lock it in a pair of vise grips and cover it in a terry cloth towel. Use the minnow net and the towel as a shield in the direction of the flying parts. It helps keeps what we refer to as the Jesus or oh shit clips in a small area.

    Question Re: MOE Finished Lower

I just assembled a PSA lower and LPK with a Spikes buffer and buffer tube on Wed. How does your safety feel? Mine feels loose in the lower but functions fine with a positive on/off feel. Any tips here to tighten it up in the lower?

Awaiting my Magpul grip and MOE stock from Primary Arms to complete the build..... apparently everyone is allergic to OD green around here so I gotta get it from Texas.....

i have completed three lower assemblies and after the first i made sure to order additional detent pins. by the time i did my last one i only used two for the pivot pin.

i was actually amazed at how many times i was able to find the flying detent pin the first time i did a build. but alas, after it flew away for the fourth time i was unable to locate it.

i used smith and wesson parts in my psa lower and they all went in fine, same for the dd lpk i used in a s&w lower.

I had a sloppy selector in my build using a bushmaster parts kit. It was beyond serviceable. So I trashed it and picked up a rock river ambi safety. Out of all the safeties it was by far the cheapest ambi. Stuck that in and its fine. The bushmaster has a very shallow and weak looking pocket that the detent sits in compared to the rock river. It was almost non existent.
