Monroe county LTCF license
This is my first time im applying for my LTCF permit in Monroe County.
my friend is applying for his at the same time and we used each other as 1 of the 2 referrences. we asked another friend if we could use him and he said yes.
Both me and my friend have clean backrounds, presented our 1% county tax paper(or which ever paper it is you need). We handed in our application, paid the 6$ were handed a reciept.
The next day we both had a post card in the mail stating the other used the other as a reference for the LTCF and we both filled them out and mailed them in same night.
We both used the same second reference but when we asked him if he recieved the post card and filled it out and mailed it in he stated he never recieved it yet. The card says you have 10 days to return it.
Im starting to think/worrying the friend is lazy/doesnt feel like mailing anything or whatever the case is and isnt doing his part.
Could it be they are awaiting our first reference?
If he decided to dick us and not fill it out, we will be denied our LTCF?
Any info will help. please & thanksAmerica is the finest country anyone ever stole.

I'd guess the sheriff's office will just ask you for another reference if that one does not come thru.
So, this postcard you got in the mail, did it specifically mention license to carry firearms on it? Did it come in an envelope?

Re: Monroe county LTCF license
There is no requirement to submit tax forms when applying for a LTCF.
As far as your references needing to fill out sone post card thing... That's not required by law either...
Most disturbing is that the Sheriff informed your references that you are applying for a LTCF. Sheriff broke the law in doing that.
That information is not to be disclosed

Re: Monroe county LTCF license
Yeah well welcome to Monroe County. They have been requiring that local tax form for as long as I can remember and no one has wanted to challenge them about it at this point.
And yes they send out a postcard with all the info their plain as day, I just did one for a friend a month ago.
One of these days we need to find someone willing to go through the nonsense of getting refused because they wont do the taxes or character references and then sue the department.
I'd love to do it but it would mean on my next renewal I'd lose my LTCF and then have to hire a lawyer and go through all that BS, just not something I have the time or patience for right now (I'm due to renew early next year)

Re: Monroe county LTCF license
I hear ya brother.... instead of suing, would bringing it up in a town meeting do anything?
Maybe threaten the solicitor that people are not happy and the Sheriff is opening them up to a potential lawsuit?

Re: Monroe county LTCF license
Just a thought...could a complaint be filled with PSP since they are the highest LE agency in the state?

Re: Monroe county LTCF license
...And good luck with that. I had a nice bitching contest with the Monroe county sheriff, and he is a total douchebag. When I told him that the UFA prohibited him from making up his own requirements, he told me I was wrong. When I presented the text to him, he said that he "could do whatever he wanted."
So, yeah, good luck filing a complaint with him. It will only end up in the trash.
