    Default Allegheny power encounter

Actually, they don't get better than this story. Most of you know that I OC at home and in town but until now I have never witnessed this kind of rude behavior or level of stupidity.

Tonight, while I was sitting on my screened in porch I noticed a Allegheny Power truck in my driveway so I walked out. The guy was walking around my yard looking on the ground for the power lines (like looking up is to hard to do) and I asked him what he was looking for.
He said.....your neighbors are out of power and I am trying to find out what the problem is. I told him...I don't care what you do, just don't cut the power in case you have to make repairs because my wife is relying on oxygen and breathing treatments. He assured me that this was not going to happen and in case he needed to cut the power I would be warned, so I walked back in. It was about an hour after this "meeting" that I looked outside and noticed yet another truck in my driveway and thought nothing of it.
At this time I finished all the business that I had to do with Europe and wanted to take a shower so I turned on the shower and right at the point that I soaped up.......Poof......no more power.
You can imagine how pissed I was but somewhere in the back of my head I thought this would happen, so all my clothes and towels were at a place where I could find them without the lights on. I dried myself off in the dark and pulled my skibbies on and walked out of the bathroom and my wife was sitting on the porch with the candles all lit....as if she wanted to say that it was OK.

Now...my wife needs oxygen at times you don't expect it and you guessed it..........all this happens to run on electricity. I filed numerous forms so she would have electricity in case she needs it but yet, here we have some ahole shutting down the power without looking in his logbook.

So far no problem because Karen (my wife) was ok.........I walk outside in the rain (damned, I just showered) and walked up to the 3 guys that were there. I approached the man that I talked to before and asked him what the hell he was thinking by cutting the power without warning me (as I asked him) and he gave me the cold shoulder.
After a major verbal altercation (the likes of you have never seen) I asked him for his service number or truck number because I wanted to know who his supervisor was and who Ok'ed the power cut without looking through the documents listed to our address so I could file a complaint.
Now here is what he said.....and this is a keeper...he told me that if I wanted to know his name or truck number or service number, I had to beat it out of him. Still he did not notice the 44s on my hip (I strap on that gun as soon as I put my clothes on) but apparently his power buddy did notice it.
I politely asked him once again for his name and service number and again he refused to provide me such a number. Fortunately number 3 restored power so I did not take it any further...but I tell you, there are some people out there that are in need of a new set of brains.....desperately.

Glad it worked out fairly quickly, but you should still raise Holy Hell with the company today as soon as you can

Ain't Bona Fide Union Labor grand?

I would on the phone today riding that ladder of incompetence to the top.

Glad everything worked out in the end. Probably not how you wanted to spend your day today but I hope you are on the phone cracking skulls.

Not for nothing, and I'm certainly not defending utility workers here, but why don't you have a UPS or two for such emergencies? I have that shit for my computer in case I need emergency access to... essential... stuff. I'm thinking that breathing > porn. Wow, can't believe I said that. Summary: batteries are your friend.

Sub point, the last thing I want when I'm verbally attacking someone is a gun at hand. If you go up to those three guys and get in their face, even if you didn't intend to start a fight, you're going to be in a bad place if you shoot any of them. Sure, you might argue that the three guys turned on you and started to beat you down which put you in immediate fear for your life, but the fact that you started the encounter is very bad for you. Also you should consider that guns aren't for intimidation. They are a tool to save your life. The whole "the guy was going to give me lip when I had a 44 on my hip" isn't the sort of thing you should be proud of. You have every right to be pissed and confront people you think wronged you, but the gun on your hip means you cant afford to be mixing it up like that.

    My 4 cents.
It has to start someplace... It has to start sometime...

Union labor, lol. These guys are probably from the same pool as the PECO employees. PECO, who has dug up the road/yard across the street from me no less than four times in the past month, searching for a gas leak.

A gas leak that you can smell simply by standing on the street.

Hopefully my house doesn't blow up.

I could tell you the story about how PECO removed a section of concrete sidewalk to install a utility pole, then wouldn't pour new concrete to replace what they jackhammered-up until I called and and explained I was calling from inside the law office which owned the sidewalk they'd destroyed. I could tell you that, but it would be off-topic since I wasn't carrying at the time, so I won't.

And no, I really am not a lawyer. I just hang around with them sometimes.

Yup. Jerk wads like that also tend to lie. One 911 call and without video, you are the dude with a gun who did just about whatever they feel like saying you did. Sounds like the worker wanted a fight so he could say he was attacked for no reason. The gun just becomes icing on the cake.

    Let's be careful out there.
