Re: American Ammunition or A-MERC
A-MERC is unusably bad when brand new, and would only be worse reloaded.

Re: American Ammunition or A-MERC
It's really strange brass. A .223 case will weigh about 10gr more than any other brass and the primer pockets seem to be looser than most. I have reloaded it in 223 and I haven't experienced any case failures during the reloading process. Being that the case weighs more than the norm the powder capacity must be less than norm so I would not use them for near max loads. If you only have a few I would toss them but if you have a lot and you are going to load them just pay extra attention to them and give them a twice over after you load them up.

Re: American Ammunition or A-MERC
There are several incidents reported on gun boards about AA KB-ing handguns. I was one of those cases -- an AA round of .45ACP with a double charge KB-ed my G30 to pieces several years ago.

Re: American Ammunition or A-MERC
Any AMERC brass I scrounge up goes to the scrap bucket. 45ACP cases should not split with mild loads, yet I have had two of them split on the second loading. I cull them all out now and won't use them.

The brass has weak bases and will bulge when you seat the bullet. I've broken two decapping pins because I've had 2 casings with the primer pockets drilled offcenter.
Run.....far.

Re: American Ammunition or A-MERC
HI. a-merc brass is not good. the brass is thicker than all other brass. and most of it when loaded will not fit in the chamber on 45acp, 380, 40s&w with even a slite tite chamber. I have tested it in all cal. when loaded the bullet will bludge at the bottom on a strate wall case like 45 40 380 beacuse of the thicker brass. 9mm and 38 - 357 is the only ones that would chamber. but most when fired would split down the side. i have not tested it in 223 yet. i would not take that chance. hope this helps. thanks paul. P.S. OFF TO THE SCRAP IT WOULD GO. LOL.
