Default Is Glocks Ad bad choice.

I was reading a gun mag when I came upon an ad for Glocks. I stopped to read it and was actually a bit perturbed by it. I'm not sure if I should be or not. Maybe I'm misreading this thing.

Basically it is a letter from a Police Officer whose office was hit by Katrina. He goes on to brag up how the Glocks were submerged in water, sand and muck. But when they dug them up, they all worked great.

This was a great ad. But then it hit me.

Weren't the New Orleans Police involved in the gun confiscation that went on down there? I mean, God Bless Glock. And here's to LEO's. But this example wasn't a very good one if you asked me. All I could think about was...

I wonder if these Glocks were taken off the good citizens of Louisiana?

I wonder how many Glocks are sitting locked up waiting for an owner that will never see it again?

I wonder if the Glocks they confiscated are working as well as theirs are?

I think Glock didn't think this ad out. I don't think this would have been good taste of any gun company.

Please don't read this as a slam against Glock. This is just a bad choice for a gun ad in my opinion. Wondered if anyone else thought so?

Most people don't even know about the illegal gun confiscation that took place in the wake of Katrina.

I bet a majority of gun owners don't know either.

Don't you think this is something that a Gun Supplier should be aware of. I'm sure more than one person approved this add. It really irked me.

I hadn't thought of it that way. It would be similar to an AK ad stating "Killing American soldiers and citizens for 61 years!"

Now that would be a bad ad campaign...

To be honest, I didn't know about the gun confiscations until I began reading these boards a few months ago. I'm pushing 40 years old, been shooting and hunting my whole life, and I knew nothing about it. Saw lots of Katrina coverage on the news here in PA. but nothing of the gun grab.

Their intention with the add is to show how much abuse their pistols can handle and still function. Being submerged for weeks in muddy water certainly qualifies.

People will read the ad and think what it's meant to make them think. Glocks can take abuse that would ruin most others.

Do you have a pic of the ad for us to see? I'll look online for it too.

Glock: "Even after being submerged in water, sand, and dirt; it can still oppress the American Citizen!"

I understand that. Takes a licking and keeps on ticking. (you old heads will know what I am talking about) But it wasn't a good time or place for gun owners. Nothing to do with that area, and gun owners was a good thing. Thats all I'm saying.

BearTitan put it pretty well I thought.

    Not much difference.

I thought they only grabbed those guns in N.O. Louisianna, the letter is from a cop in Mississippi.

    am I mistaken ?
