Is this red dot any good?
I am a optic newbie and have a Bushmaster A2 and want a red dot to mount direct to the carry handle without using a separate mount. I found this one but would spend up to $125-$150 This is strictly a SHTF rifle that stays in safe.

Re: Is this red dot any good?
In my opinion there are only 2 quality "budget" optics.
The Vortex SPARC and Primary Arms Red dots.
All the others are a waste of money. They dont hold zero.
Im sure some people will disagree, this is my experience/opinion

Re: Is this red dot any good?
If it's your go-to rifle you should put quality stuff on it. Not cheap crap.

Re: Is this red dot any good?
I agree only "cheap" red dots I would even play with are vortex strikefire/sparc and the primary arms. But if this is your life or death weapon then an aimpoint is the way to go!

Re: Is this red dot any good?
Since you mention this is a defensive rifle, NO this is not a good choice. That's something I'd put on a .22 rifle.
I'd suggest, at the bare minimum to remove the carrying handle (if it's removable) and buy this.

Primary Arms get an OK from me for a defensive rifle, but they're the bare minimum.
I'm not sure how that red dot mounts to the carrying handle, but you need to make sure your iron sights are still useable. Besides, you will have no cheek weld and shooting with a red dot mounted on the carrying handle will be very awkward.

Re: Is this red dot any good?
This is the PA "house brand" RDS that I snagged for my SIG522 .22 EBR based on all the rave reviews of the PA house-brand products and their cust service, plus it is GTGo on an AR:

I sprung for iron sights for my SIG522 - which witness better with my existing Simmons RDS, so I never even attached the PA to the rifle. PM me if interested in a used but never used PA.All of my guns are lubed with BACON GREASE.

Re: Is this red dot any good?
I have two vortex strikefire red dot sights that I purchased based on reviews and the companies lifetime warranty.I picked them up used, for less than you
are considering spending on the optic you mentioned.I have not mounted them yet,so right now can only go by the reviews. The former owners upgraded to Aimpoints not sure what model.Μολὼν λαβέ
