    Default LSHD Transitional Pistol

    LSHD Transitional Pistol (2 Day)

Transitional Pistol is designed to mentally take shooters off the range and set them against the backdrop of the everyday world. This is accomplished by instilling a shift in mindset: that you are at all times preparing yourself to prevail against a potentially lethal threat that you cannot safely retreat from. Techniques covered include malfunction clearance, strong hand and weak hand only shooting, alternate ready positions, use of cover, and shooting on the move (SOTM). There is an introduction to low light shooting and illumination techniques the evening of Day 1.

On Day 2 students are exposed to various carry methods and are expected to shoot from concealment. Everyday carry (EDC) gear is also discussed along with clothing options. Throughout the course, ammunition management is emphasized, as is scanning and assessing for potential threats and status checking pistols before they are holstered. Video is used as a diagnostic tool for immediate feedback, and competitive drills are designed to push shooters out of their comfort zones. A lawyer (also a trained shooter) will discuss certain legalities of concealed carry and home defense for Pennsylvania. In addition to a certificate of attendance/completion, a "range plan" is also provided to sustain and improve skills learned.

    Prerequisites:

Successful completion of LSHD Fundamental Pistol, or equivalent as determined case-by-case.

Prospective students should be able to draw and place 5 rounds into a 6" circle, perform an emergency reload, and place two additional rounds into a 3.5" square from 7 yards in a time not to exceed 15 seconds.

There are still some slots in this class.

Shooters will be held to a very high level of marksmanship - this isn't a "minute of man" class. Misses do not stop threats, nor does launching a bullet into the middle school down the road. Shooters will be held accountable for every round they fire.

Day 1 will start in the afternoon due to a low light course of fire. Please make sure you have a suitable flashlight; weapon-mounted lights are cool, but you'll still need a handheld.
