GRS come with a 1:10 twist barrel, so you could shoot 150s up to the heavy projectiles.

I just picked up my GSR this week and haven't had the time to take it to the range. I'm going to be using 168s more than likely.

I have shot 150's and up to 200's handloads and factory loads.an mine doesn't seem to have a favortie.so shoot as many different kinds as you can and see what yours likes.these are great little rifles and I'm glad I got mine.hope this helps crazywolf

    Barrel is threaded.

I shot some 168s that I loaded and it shoots good out of my GSR.

if the usa rifles have a threaded barrel for the muzzle brake then surely its a ruger part and on their parts list?
ill check, but has anyone actually bought the brake by itself?
    cheers

Don't mean to hijack this thread but what scope do you guys prefer on the scout?

The factory FH isn't the best...if you want a good FH, I'd suggest the Vortex. The threads are 5/5x24, so buy any FH/brake that you like and you will be GTG.

As far as optics...that is a personal choice. I went with an EER optic because it's a "scout" rifle and scout rifles.

Ruger provides you with traditional rings if you want to mount traditional optics on it, but if you do that you lose the ability to use the rear iron sights. XS sights makes a rail that you can use a traditional scope and still use iron sights as the XS rail has a rear peep sight.
