what are the chances...
if i am going to spend 200 extra dollars on a toy... what are the chances of an active duty guy with a clean backround getting denied for a supressor or short barrel rifle?
i dont want to apply if the chance is 50/50 or less...
thanks for the input.
i am thinking about a new 9mm with a surpressor just for thrills. This Space For Rent

Re: what are the cahnces...
if you can go purchase a firearm legally from a dealer, the chances you will be denied your tax stamp on your purchase is essentially ZERO.
they use the same basic check to purchase a firearm, plus they run your prints is all.
further, if the transfer is NOT approved, your $200 is refunded in full.
however, the CLEO sig requirement, thats a different story, thats all depending on whether your local LEOs believe in freedom or not."Oderint Dum Metuant" - BMFH

Re: what are the cahnces...
If you have the means to do it and don't because of a .01% chance you might get your paper work back because of a typo or an area left blank. you fix it and send it back. thats only time I've had any kick backs.
Once you do it and that cool new toy is in your hand you'll want do it again and again
The best is to do a meet and greet with the CLEO to see what where he stands
but to get denied is very slim to none by the ATF

Re: what are the cahnces...
what do i say when they ask why i want a surpressor? "the cool factor!" that is the real reason, and i am obviously NOT a ganbanger... so will that work? or do i need to say somethinglike varment removal?

"all legal purposes" is what I put on my forms.
Provided there aren't any typos you should be fine.

Re: what are the cahnces...
I always put in the reason block:
"Investment, Collection and all lawful purposes
I dont think they really care whats there unless you put crap like "to kill people quietly"
however, some fellas on Subguns have put the following, and gotten approvals:
Chicks dig it
Fun factor
Because its cool
most recently, a guy put for the reason to build his SBR
"Zombie Defense"

Sure, if you can find a G18 that is transferable. ...good luck with that.
Siding with better judgment is the safer thing to do when filling in the season block. I'm ballzy when it comes to things like that, but not as ballzy as some of the responses that JayBell replied with. lolRIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515
