watched a straw hat purchase today...
so i'm down in ohio and went over to this place called vances to check out their 1911 selection and shotguns...
we here comes this fine ass lady and her man, so their looking at guns and once you enter this store you have to take a number...
so i'm watching them from a distance realizing whats about to happen and sure enough when her number was called he steps away and starts looking at everything else but her, so now i'm playing with this mossberg 500 and i happen to look over and this 5ft 120lb sexy azz blonde says i want that kimber 5" 45 acp...
now she hasn't asked a single question about the gun, hasn't complained about the weight of the gun or racked the slide, then she plainly says my boyfriend is going to teach me how to shoot it and he suggested i get this one to start with...
now at this point i'm in awww watching this go down and expecting the salesman to say sorry i can't sell you this gun but he fucking sold it to her...
i was speechless, then as she's walking out the door he meets up with her and puts his arm around her and walks out... unbelievable
nice thing is i learned that i can purchase long guns out of state...

Re: watched a straw hat purchase today...
Did you say anything to the owner? Or did you even ask if he knew what was going down? Maybe it wasn't a straw purchase. Could have been, but we don't really know. and neither does the owner.

I don't see anything in your description of the event that would lead me to make the assumption that was a straw purchase.

Re: watched a straw hat purchase today...
this my friend "is what it is" if the clerk wasn't paying attention and he had no reason to not sell her the gun based on his view and she can pass a background check then there really isn't much to be done.
also i think this is one of the hardest situations a store owner has to face. its not as cut and dry as your not 21 or your a felon. throwing away business based on a hunch is a lot to ask of some one.Last edited by B.A.; February 8th, 2012 at 10:02 PM.

You wouldn't be one of Bloomberg's "special investigators" would you? Your secret is safe with me.

Re: watched a straw hat purchase today...
I don't believe STRAW HAT is the correct terminology here. If what you suspect is true, it would be a straw purchase, without the hat

This is one of those things that if you don't see it yourself there is no way to make a real informed decision on what happened. Some text on the internet does not cut it.
Even if I was present, there is a huge grey area with something like this.
