Default Stainless or Regular Steel Barrel

    Hi,

I am thinking about buying a stainless Ruger mark 3 and was wondering if anyone here knows if it will erode faster than the regular steel?

Would like to do lots of shooting and dont want to shoot out the barrel after a couple thousand rounds.

    Thanks.

Either one, if taken care of properly, should out live you and your children. Get the one you want.

I bought a Ruger Mk III 22/45 a few years ago and have probably well over 10k rounds through it. It's still as accurate as the day I bought it. Heck... when I take the kids with me to the range, we kill a bulk pack of ammo.

Stainless is tougher than regular(carbon) steel barrel. so yes the stainless steel barrel will last longer than the the carbon steel. and stainless steel won't rust, if you do get the stainless model, remember the internal part are not stainless.

    stainless is just more money.
I got a ruger 22/45 for Christmas and haven't had a chance to shoot it yet. those rugers get good reviews. should be fun to shoot

Good luck with what ever you get

    CORRECTION:
I apologize to op I also pm'd him
I assumed that firearm manufactures would use a better grade of stainless than they do. so, being a lower grade of ss it does contain carbon which will alow ss to rust

Good looking and shooting guns. Love the slab sided barrels...
