New waynesboro resident question

Just moved to waynesboro and i have a texas drivers license (military) can i still apply for my CC or do i need a PA drivers license to do so?
Also how long do i need to live at the current address to be considered a resident?

You need a PA license which I believe you have 15 or 30 days to get anyway. I don't believe there is a time period for residency, you will probably need some kind of proof to change the D/L and that will serve as proof for the LTCF.....I believe

HAHAHAH!!! I just got off the phone with the franklin county police and they said they didint know....then they transfered me to the police barracks and the actual cops had no idea why they transferred me cause there the only ones that issue the LTCF...im doomed, my only option is to submit and see what happins. worse can happin is i lose 20 bucks.

As said above, if you reside in PA now, you need to get your DL changed almost immediately. Without a gov't issued photo id (DL or otherwise) that shows a PA address, I don't think you will get a LTCF. Save your $20 and put it towards a PA DL.

You can't apply for a PA resident LTCF until you change your D/L to PA....
Also your LTCF when you get it is NO GOOD in MD

LTCF is issued by the Franklin County Sheriff - that office would be the place to check. Do you have a CHL issued in Texas? Probably valid in PA, since the two states have reciprocity.

Being active military, you can keep your TX DL, no matter how long you reside in PA. The issue will be that you wont be able to get a PA resident LTCF with a TX DL. Your options are, get a PA DL or get a TX CHL. The up side to getting a PA LTCF verses a TX CHL is WV has resiprocity with PA but not with TX.

Another option (long shot), is to go to the Franklin Co sheriff's office in Chambersburg and explain your situation. Because you are active military, they may issue you a non resident LTCF. Probably not, but they do have that option. The Yahoo behind the desk doing the photo taking wont know how to respond to that question so you will probably need to talk to the sheriff himself.

You also have the option of getting any number of non resident licenses from other states like FL or AZ or UT, ect. Some of those offer better reciprocity than TX or PA. With some of them, your military status will exempt you from having to take a course. This is probably your better option (assuming Franklin Co wont offer you a non resident), you just need to do your research to find the state that works best for you.
