Re: SHTF Water Filter
One more addition, two reasons: I wanted to use the parts I had bought, and I had an extra one of these, and now I can store the filter on it's side without a worry about the layers getting mixed.
Ziptie pull in place so it can be easily removed.
I guess I have everything explained really well since no one has really asked any questions about the second part? While I appreciate the rep that many have given for this project, I didn't do it for rep, I did it so we could all learn. So if you have questions or suggestions feel free to post them. I'm not against hearing if someone has a better idea.
If anyone is wondering, yes I did drink the water, as a matter of fact, my entire family drank the water from the test run above. It tasted really good after it was icy cold.Rules are written in the stone,

Re: SHTF Water Filter
Thought I'd add, that the Monolithic filters which were rated as 0.5 micron, are 0.2 micron now. Cheaper than dirt still has the old info (which is what streaker posted earlier in this thread). Might as well order from monolithic anyway. They also have the full size replacement filter that CTD does not have without getting another spigot/sock.

Re: SHTF Water Filter
Forget the cost... Is this one of the best filters out there?
If I put creek, rain gutter, pond, toilet, gutter water in it...
How clean would the water be, safety-wise?
What's the shelf life of the filter (unused vs. used)
