Went to a military rifle shoot in Ohio yesterday. Had an awesome time.

I got to shoot a few I haven't shot before:
    - Stoner 63A (SO SEXY)
    - MG-34
    - BAR, Chilean variant in 7.62x51 (really smooth)
    - Israeli LMG FAL
    - M249
    - .510 Whisper, suppressed bolt action, with API bullets
    - 20mm Solothurn (zero recoil, amazing for such a huge anti tank rifle)
    - 1910 "Snow Cap" Maxim

    Here's some video:

This guy shot thousands of rounds through the Maxim:

Everything you heard about the Chauchat is true:

    Solothurn is impressive:

An M2 with API rounds is always appreciated:

    M134 mini gun:

The Stoner 63A is just such a beautiful unicorn.

The SPAS12 is the most complicated shotgun I have encountered.

    BRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

A Vickers and two MG08 guns.

Threw a few guns in the pickup and took the little girl to the range today (and yes, my 28 year old will always be my little girl ) Her nails almost matched her Tiffany Glock and M&P - lol.
Nothing beats Father / Daughter range day !! Except maybe our yearly Father / Daughter beach trip - if we could only combine the two - sitting at the Ocean shooting!

I went out to Greater Pitt Gun club today to run a few test loads for my Glock 20 and 32.

    2023-03-01_06-14-29 by poofy27, on Flickr

    This was a 5 (5 shot) trial using 180 Gr Hornady FMJ-FP and AA#9
I only shot at 10 yards and used a start load of 13.0 gr and top load at 14.2 G
The avg velocity as listed from 1143 thru 1258

I followed that up with 3 loadings of 200 gr Nosler Sporting Handgun.
Once again at 10 yds and start load at 12.0 gr thru 12.4 gr AA#92023-03-01_06-54-49 by poofy27, on Flickr

The upper left diamond was 5 shots of .40 S& W thru the 10 mm G20.

I also reloaded some .357 Sig using 125 Gr Speer TMJ and 8.0 gr of Vn350
I chroned one at 1318 FPS but this was toward the end of my session so simply loaded 6 rounds into a mag and walked back to the pavilion.

It ranged at 47 yards. I chose the larger steel plate ( 7 1/2" by about 12 inches). and hit 5 of 6 with the G32
.47 yds to left steel hanging target. by poofy27, on Flickr

I forgot the chrono tripod so made due with what I had

The G32 was my first glock. i still really like it.

I also shot my 1991A1, CW9, P9 Covert, G17 and G19 but just a few rounds thru each.

Not as much fun stuff as Josh but still fun. And tomorrow the daughter wants to go shooting so sweet!

I finally got the new S&W 5.7 out and man was it smooth! I've never shot a 5.7x28 pistol and it felt nice. Great feel with the thin grip, and
22+ rounds with recoil not much more than a 22 - just plain fun! Now to get a can for it.
The Live Free Armory shot great too. Very happy. Will be in the carry rotation now that it's proved itself initially.
And the new tooled Glock Upper with Silencerco barrel on a Gen 2 frame and Omega can fun with Federal sub sonic ammo.
The new Kimber shot flawlessly too as did the Glock 30S.
Nice to get a group of guns I haven't fired yet out for the day!
Now to figure out what to bring tomorrow with the daughter

Took the 81mm mortar to the range this weekend. It was a big hit. Rounds were landing from 50 to 120 yards depending on the barrel elevation. I need to dial in the consistency. The rounds land where I point it but the same launch charge at the same barrel angle can land with a range variation of 20 yards. Things I'm going to look at: mortar weight, diameter, and ways to load the launching charges more consistently (12 ga blanks I make). I measured the powder the same but maybe there was some variation in how I packed the wads and I did use different hulls when loading them. I also learned that I need to clean the barrel every 10 rounds or so. By 20 rounds they were slowing down a lot when dropping down the tube.
