No, you are not seeing double. I loved my first S&W M&P 40 so much I brought a 2nd home on Friday (had it on layaway as my Xmas gift). The range report was great 15yards off hand no rest and it was some of my best shooting.

I like that a lot! How does it shoot?

It holds a solid 1" group @ 100 yrds, action is typical of that type and the trigger reset in between shots same. This is one of my favorite rifles to shoot, I am considering upgrading the scope, the OEM one leaves a little to be desired but haven't made up my mind yet.

what is the sportered rifle? looks like a sportered swedish mauser...but i dont think that is a box of 6.5x55 ammo.
