Beautiful morning at the range. Oldest daughter getting ready for our fall deer hunting trip to NC. Her first time shooting at 200 yards. Got all except 1 shot in paper deer target kill zone with Ruger .243 compact.

I went to Greater Pitt Gun club today.

I ran a Henry in .44 mag and my Tikka in .300 winmag.

The Henry loads were using 300gr XTPs over 4227, H110, W296 and AA9 ( each with 3 different charges).

The Tikka. I used some Hammer Hunter 160gr over RL23, 165 Accubonds, 165 Sierra Gamekings and 165 Nosler BTs over I4350.

I'm having some issues shooting with my dominant eye.
15 years ago, I stuck the ass end of a Sawzall blade through my cornea. Stitches in your cornea were a bitch.
Now, either the reticle is a bit blurry or the if I can roll my eyes enough to clear that, the target blurrs a bit.

This amounts to me shooting a couple subminute shots and a flyer out there almost every time. Frustrating.
Breathing, trigger press seem.to.be consistent or so I believe.

Every shot today ( about 50 rounds) was deer worthy at 100 and I have never shot any of my 50 plus deer over 100.

I do pretty decent with my crossbow but out to 30 is easier than 100 or further.

Getting old I suppose.

Yes. Some do.
I.believe most do not.
My friends shoot 3 rounds a year to sight in. Period.
I.usually either stand or sit when.posting and shoot in.both of those positions before the season.
I do try to be resting against a tree for stability but sitting, I rest both arms inside my knees.
I.found that shooting my crossbow out to 50 off hand actually helps with my rifle shooting.
I like to shoot my handguns out to.50 yards as well. That's always off hand and with irons ( I roll my head to use my left eye for handguns).

All I ever see are bench shooters at my RR, requires minimal skill. I usually shoot off hand at 50, 75 or 100 yards, unless I'm dialing in a rifle.

I've been doing so the last year or so. Not well, but I've been doing it.
