Got my AR out yesterday. It's now running perfectly, I resolved the trigger reset issue by filing down the hammer and disconnect slightly so they don't snag on each other. Now I can go PEW PEW PEW PEW PEW PEW x 30 instead of just PEW x 1.

Decided to give 100 yards a shot. I've never attempted a 100-yard shot IN MY LIFE. Had a 4-inch target. NO SCOPE, used only sights. I couldn't even see the paper so I blindly guessing...

    HIT IT!

Probably no big deal to anyone else here, but I'm proud of myself.

For truth in reporting, I attempted 5 shots at that little target from 100, hit the paper twice, the circle once...but I hit it!
Galations 6:9...And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up.

Grab some shoot n' see silhouette targets - I can see them at 100 yds with no magnification. But 50 yds is much easier and where you'll probably want to be to zero anyway .

    Glad it's running properly.

I have those, just not with me yesterday. I went just to test it, stayed to play.

Man, this thread needed a bump. My 11 year old daughter and I went to range today. We tried to go two weeks ago on a Saturday, but they were working on the range and never updated their website. Pissed me off that we didn't get to shoot, but we went today and it was a great training day.

I finally got to shoot my Recover 20/20 brace and it did not disappoint. I have my RMR and shot it at 100 yards and hit some 4" balloons. My range goes out to 200 yards, but I was focused on training my daughter.

She also shot the G19 with brace. I actually have a video of her shooting the pistol with brace, using a 3D printed mag. My kid was hitting 4" balloons with her MP 15/22 with non-magnified red dot, so I was so proud of her. We did a sponge camo pattern on her air soft mask and her rifle.

I cannot wait until next week when we go out again. I am going to try to train with her each week.

Wasn't planning on shooting today, but we went to Enck's to get some reloading supplies and Enck's employee approached my daughter and I and asked if we wanted to shoot a FA Tippman AR-15 in 22LR. We had to watch a vid and sign a waiver. It was fun and the 22LR is so light in recoil that in FA it was easy. I wanted to like the Tippmann AR, but the lower is polymer and I was not going to pay $600 on a polymer pistol with a proprietary mag. My daughter never shot FA before, so we kept her target and hung it up on her gaming room.

A while back, I won a gun at the clubs bash. It sat in my safe and only occasionally saw the light of day.
I started loading for it and shooting it more trying to work a consistant.

    I took off the Bushnel 3X 9 and got a Leupold VX5HD 3 X 15.
Leupold offered a custom dial at no charge for this scope.
I tried various bullets and settled on Nosler Accubonds in 180gr over a full charge of IMR4350 and am using Sig brass.

Today, I shot the rifle at 200, installed the new dial, cranked it to 300 and shot this group.

I'm happy with that being sub minute.

Now to practice using a bipod.

A buddy fro Indianapolis and I bot got PA10 rifles when they were just over $500
Niether if us have come up with a load thats minute of angle.

I wanted to use the 400 Indian OFV cases I had and tried two bullets and powder combos.

First was 175 gr Nosler Custom Competition with IMR 4064.
The second was a Barnes 180 TTSX over BL-C(2).

I used a penciled target to spot the hits for each shot so I could check the spreads without setting up a dozen targets.
    Here's an example

Mt wife throws me out of the house for 4 hours at least once a week so I have to do something.

I also ran an AR15 / 22 at 100 and another AR as well.

Here's the rifle range 100 to 300. This is Pitcairin Monroeville.

    Thanks.
The Harris bipod is shakey, especially at 25 inches high and shooting from a sitting position.

Ill talk to the guide to see if prone over a backpack is too much to ask for. Ha.

He said I should be proficient out to 300.

Till then, its practice and more practice.

Up to this point, the longest shot i ever made on a deer was 95 paces, with a 20" Ithaca slug gun.
I shoot more deer with a crossbow now.

My daughter and I have been going shooting at least once a week. I want to get her more time on the range and sending rounds down range. Today, I am a proud dad as she shot at 200 yards for the first time and she hit two balloons at that distance. She hit the first balloon on her first shot, which was awesome. It's only been three weeks of shooting, but I have seen her improvements already.
