$579? Are they Crazy? My Gun shop here in Monroe county is selling them for $369 and i'm sure he got them from AIM because he buys a lot of stuff from them.

Wow, maybe i SHOULD get one!

WW2 P-38s cost more than the post war P-38.
A Republic, if you can keep it.

Yep. According to the description, they are numbers-matching wartime production and $539 is not a horrible price for that. You guys are likely seeing post wars or reworks for under $400 but if you're not you should be buying every one of them that you come across at that price.

    Im VERY tempted..

Think they will ever have matching P08s for sale at a resonable price??

EDIT: also saw a "X" stamped on one so thse appear to be RC's. If that matters to anyone.

Huge difference for folks who might not know, but the vast majority of post war P38s/P1s have an aluminum frame and steel slide, amongst other differences; it's all steel pre war and during the war. Great mix here of makers, variations, Russian captures, etc...

Nice that Wolff makes recoil, mag, and other springs for these pistols, and at a very bare minimum, the recoil springs should be swapped out if you purchase one. Real nice too that an 03/C&R FFL works for these, and even postwar P38/P1 pistols.

I wonder if they have a billboard sized import stamp on them or they are stamped in a decent manner?

There are still some honest wartime non-capture/no X, non-stamped guns out there in the $600-$650 range if you know where to look.

Yeah, because the post-war are made of lessor materials. The very first ones post war carried the P38 moniker, but were later renamed P1's.

WWII P38's are the good ones to get for sure. But as you said, they do cost more. ..with good reason.
