Re: Romney signs off on permanent assault weapons ban
Well, yes just about anyone but Obama... Romney hasn't won yet.
The choices are not good at all.
Newt, Romney, Paul..
do you think if paul doesn't win he still has a shot as a write in? Makes no sense again.
Here there is a chance for Paul to get the nod. If he doesn't then more people clearly do not want him in office and it would be between whomever and Obama.
I certainly do not want OB in again. Not with 2 supreme court justices and the rest of the country's problems in the mix. So yes in that case Mit if he won would have to get the vote by default.
I know here we go again with blah blah blah..
If enough people do not pick Ron to be the Rep candidate, which he is trying to get on the ticket.. then he has no chance no matter how many people write him in. Numbers right?
Hey why isn't his son running for President, younger, vibrant, well spoken etc...

Re: Romney signs off on permanent assault weapons ban
Numbers from republicans are not numbers from the USA..
Republicans are not the only people that vote in the presidential election and right now ron paul is pulling around 60% from independents which is the largest voting group right now (40%).
Also... Democrats like Paul
Also.. Paul is in a dead heat tie with Obama in the polls right now.

Re: Romney signs off on permanent assault weapons ban
The AW Ban was so unpopular I have a feeling it will never come back, no matter who is in office (Obama seems to have the best shot at it though). That being said, it seems Romney has changed his tune since then, and changes his tune to get votes however he needs them. It seems this election that he's against a new AW Ban, or at least so he says here: http://www.politifact.com/truth-o-me...ing-assault-w/
Special quote to pay attention to: "I do not support any new legislation of an assault weapon ban nature, including that against semiautomatic weapons. I instead believe that we have laws in place that if they're implemented and enforced, will provide the protection and the safety of the American people. But I do not support any new legislation, and I do support the right of individuals to bear arms, whether for hunting purposes or for protection purposes or any other reason. That's the right that people have." - Romney, 2008
So, I guess it's going to be picking the lesser evil for me this election.

Re: Romney signs off on permanent assault weapons ban
Romney is more of a threat to the Second Amendment then Obama. At least with Obama we can count on Republicans to make every effort to stop him.
Who will stop Romney???
I want to see Romney walk right up to Wayne Lapierre, apologize for previously supporting the AW Ban and then kiss his ass.
I agree that Ron Paul has the best chance to beat Obama. Romney is so much like Obama, that most people will not want to to bother switching. Ron Paul's difficulty is in winning the Republican Nomination. In Ron Paul wins the nomination then Obama will have to answer his tough questions and the media will not be able to ignore him any longer. People will have their eyes opened.Last edited by tsafa; January 24th, 2012 at 05:10 PM.

Re: Romney signs off on permanent assault weapons ban
I just pointed out that this wasn't something "current", as most would assume.
Also, it's hard for me to know if it was done to win votes - I dunno - I wasn't there.
Also, I repeated the "7 years" thing because the poster prior to it mentioned "when you're running for election for president" - he wasn't when that happened.
Also, this is info that I'm glad was posted - it surely makes me want to vote for him less than I ever have. I never liked/trusted him, btw.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

Re: Romney signs off on permanent assault weapons ban
Gingrich is every, EVERY bit as guilty as Romney when it comes to anti-2A.
Unfortunately, the pro-gay, pro-left, pro-bestiality, pro-Bill Maher voting block is effing HUGE in this twisted-fucjk nation and tromps all over Santorum at every turn.
Given that the libs hate the air that Santorum breathes and the shadow he casts - that should tell you enough as to who to back...All of my guns are lubed with BACON GREASE.

Re: Romney signs off on permanent assault weapons ban
"pro-bestiality" ?!? Sorry, I haven't read any news articles both bashing Santorum and supporting that.
You might want to remember that young republicans are as a whole far more "pro-gay" than older ones, in that we have gay friends, gay co-workers, and we don't treat them as the incarnation of evil. Santorum doesn't stand a chance in a general election because of his constant desire to compare gay marriage with bestiality, bigamy, and other issues.
Did you see the video when he basically refused to answer the actual questions put to him on this issue by New Hampshire college students? How he talked about justifying building bridges in that video while trying to dodge the subject?
Yeah, I'd like him to justify his votes for the bridge to nowhere and his other outrageous earmark votes. I'd also like for him to stay out of the personal lives of others.
I also have no doubt that with Santorum in office he would likely start a war with Iran rather than try to avoid one.
He's worse than Gingrich, worse than Romney, and a terrible choice for this country, in my opinion.
You're free to disagree though.

Re: Romney signs off on permanent assault weapons ban
That you actually believe that Obama would be " controlled" by R's were he to get a second term is ridiculous. Look at the man's record ! Look at the Anti gun Judicial appointments he has already made, including TWO to the Supreme Ct ! Obama with a second term, with NO consequences for his decisions, his willingness to use the Executive Order and regulatory scheme's and the ability to nominate at least two more SCOTUS Justices will assure the significant gains made in 2A rights over the last 20 years wiped out in 4 !Si vis pacem, para bellum
