Default He was just a nice, quiet guy. My latest article

    http://www.thateverymanbearmed.com/2...quiet-guy.html

Brady Campaign Board Member Joan Peterson posted on her blog the other day about instances were someone has murdered other people, in certain instances, family members with a firearm and the predictable response from people that knew the suspect " he was just a nice, quiet guy " Alluding to the obviously mis guided idea that people described by those that knew them only ever assault, injure or kill other people because of the availability of a firearm. Of course the rest of us know this is not even remotely true, so I thought I'd do a little searching and provide some examples of " nice, quiet people " committing horrible acts of violence with everything BUT a firearm.

    From Baltimore Maryland

    http://articles.baltimoresun.com/201...fair-condition

Police said there had been no previous calls to the home, and neighbors described a quiet, polite family. Neighbors also said the younger daughter had just completed seventh grade at Crofton Middle School, and the older one was a University of Maryland student.

From NY City ( The NY Times)

    http://www.google.com/url?sa=t&rct=j...sIB_qPVSs-NsKg

The man arrested in the stabbing of a popular Chinese actor was described yesterday by employees of a mission where he lived as a "quiet man" who had never shown "any sign of a violent nature. "

    From NJ

    http://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/201...ide_shock.html

" Neighbors described the alleged killer as a quiet man in his 20s who had grown depressed because he was having trouble finding work."

    From PA

    http://www.phillyburbs.com/news/loca...09186805b.html

" By all accounts the Moyers were a quiet, private family,"

There are literally tens of thousands of similar cases, spanning the globe; of people being brutally assualted and most often killed by attackers near universally described as " nice" , "polite" or "quiet"

Seems obvious to me the common denominator in these cases isnt the choice of weapon used, as much as it is the description of the personality of the suspect by those closest to them. I wonder if Joan and her acolytes would openly support significant restrictions on anyone described as above ?

Though they will scream bloody murder that it isnt true, the unmistakeable conclusion is that Gun Grabbers and State Mandated Victimhood advocates need as many victims as possible to lend credence to their political end game. The more ordinary Citizens take responsibility for their own safety by carrying a firearm for self defense from predators, the less relevant and credible the various Anti Gun Groups and their followers become.

Their recent behavior in demeaning and belittling anyone who calls them on their culpability in enabling criminals is akin to a child having a temper tantrum because no one is paying attention to him. They seem unable to grasp a concept that most people instinctively learn by 4 or 5 years old. Stomping your feet, calling people names and demanding people listen to you generally has the exact opposite effect.

Anyone "sitting on the fence " with regards to Second Amendment issues, and the right to carry a firearm for defense of themselves and their loved ones have a choice to make. They can join with those of us that support the right of people to defend their lives and not be helpless victims or they can choose to follow the path of the Gun Grabbers and Anti Self Defense zealots and wind up with a US version of the Gun Banners Utopia of the UK, where things like a mother and her two daughters are attacked in broad daylight, tied up and beaten to death over 20 agonizing minutes happens

    http://www.michaelstone.co.uk/stone/news-reports.html

Its time to choose which way you want to live. As a free person, with the knowledge and tools necessary to defend yourself and your loved ones from predators. Or as a subject of the State, forced to be defenseless, forced to be helpless while your children are killed in front of you before its your turn.

ANY parent that thinks being defenseless and unable to protect themselves or their children from such horrific acts does a grave disservice to their children and is shirking their responsibilities as a parent.

Please don't forget to include trusted members of our society that were Serial killers like Peterson, rapist's, murder's, suicides, etc...and these folks had been government tested and approved to have "GUNS."

Let me know when you stop banging your head against the wall. You are trying to use facts... empirical data, even... To try and counter the senseless ramblings of the toddler-tantrum anti-gun crowd. Knowing is half the battle.
The last thing I want to do is hurt you... but believe me, it's on the damned list.

Here ya go, 2010 FBI Uniform Crime report on weapons used for all murders.

Here's another table. I find it interesting at a quick glance that the states with the most restrictive firearm laws have higher number of Knife/sharp instrument death rate.

Your missing the point TenK. I know that the hard core ideologues are unreachable, I stopped trying that a long time ago. I've moved on, like numerous other Pro 2A/Self Defense advocates and bloggers to publicly exposing them and whittling away at their support base ( which are not all lost causes ) and the fence sitters.

This seems like as good a place as any to leave one of Oleg Volk's posters...

    Missing the "Other" table link.

But from the 2010 FBI Uniform Crime report. 8,775 (67.5%) of the 12,996 homicides were committed with a firearm.

On the other hand, there were 34,925 transportation deaths: http://www.metro-magazine.com/News/S...s-in-2010.aspx

So vehicles are 4 times as deadly as firearms it would seem.
