Neg Rep

Hey...I searched the forum several times but can't quite figure out negative rep.

I saw that you have to have 500 posts to give it...

And I saw that you can find it in your User CP in the same area where you find the positive rep.

I understand that green squares are good, grey squares are from a newbie, and red squares are negative, and that the amount added or subtracted depends on how much "rep power" the giver has.

I think I may have gotten a neg in the past though, but have not seen it... if I had gotten a neg, it would be in the same area as the positive ones, correct, in the order in which it was received?

Thanks! (I know everybody eventually gets them, I just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something.)

That's a good question. Someone should write a FAQ and make it a stickie.

The Rep listing in the CP works on a FIFO system. You'll only see the last few, the other ones scroll away and you'll never see them again.

Okay...yeah I saw that too, and I've been sort of keeping an eye on my reps so I think I would have caught one...but who knows, maybe not.

And here I was all proud of myself for doing a ton of research BEFORE I posted on the help forum. hahaha. Most of what came up were threads discussing whether or not we even HAD a neg rep system...pages and pages of debate....and I'm thinking...ummmm do we, or don't we?!

And then I found the 500 post rule which explained why I personally did not see any way to neg rep anyone.

I just wanted to make sure the neg reps didn't pop up in a different area than the pos ones.

I read that you're only really supposed to neg somebody if they are being nasty and/or personal....

I've only felt treated that way once on this forum from one person...which isn't bad, considering all the posts I've racked up so far. *thumbs up*

(And nope, not referring to the neg I just received, either. ha.)
