    Default Alternative to Crossbreed.

So when I picked up my Ruger SR40c, I set out looking for a holster for carrying it concealed. Naturally, my first stop was Crossbreed. However, like all of my holsters, I've been trying to find alternatives to the "big names" like Raven and Crossbreed, specifically for the time it takes to get the holsters.

    I succeeded in finding an alternative to Raven pretty easily, but Crossbreed was another story (not everyone does the hybrids well)..., until I found this holster and their website;

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/120803427683

    http://oldfaithfulholsters.com/

They sell various stages of construction to help people save money. I have neither the time nor ability to punch my own leather or mold my own kydex, so I bought the fully assembled holster in the ebay auction above for only 50 bucks.

A week later it was at my door. A whole 4-5 weeks earlier than Crossbreed quoted, and 15 bucks cheaper!

I've been wearing this holster for about a week now, and it is just as well made and just as comfortable as any crossbreed I've ever had.

    And, it's made in America.

Anyway, just wanted to throw out an alternative to some of the big names out there. I know it isn't for everyone and I know there are brand loyalists, but I personally don't like waiting a month to four months (Raven) for a holster.

Good write up. The Galco Kingtuk gets good reviews as well.

Ah yes, that is another one I was looking at, but couldn't find one for my gun.

Might not get many responses Brother, as they just got done arguing about it over there. Hopefully you do.

I liked mine quite a bit, albeit not as much as my crossbreed. I think it's one of those "subjective" type things lol. For the money, it is a very good holster. How's that SR treating you?

    Oh, thanks, didn't see that.

Well, I am not looking for an argument. It is just a review based on my personal experience. YMWV. I'm not really sure what there is to argue about because like you said, it is subjective.

    The SR is sweet!

Minotaur holsters are pretty decent, I've had one over the past few months without any issues. You can adjust ride-depth, retention, and can get use the same carrier for different pistols by swapping out the kydex.

Come now, Justin! You know as well as I do that here on PAFOA we can ALWAYS find something to argue about

I'm glad you like that SR. Are you retiring the P30 now?

Yeah, I'm sure someone will be along to tell me that I am wrong in my personal experience. :P I simply can't stand the wait some of these holster companies quote. If you're that busy, hire more people! Raven is the worst, by far though.

Anyway, no no, definitely not retiring. It is still my primary open carry gun. It simply doesn't conceal very well..., on me.

The SR40c was picked up for those few times I want to conceal, and it conceals very well on me, especially with the holster featured in the OP.
