    Default I shot a 460 yesterday

    I WANT ONE

Seriously though, I expected heavier recoil.
Let us hope for the best, but let us also prepare for the worst.

you want recoil, you need the 500. but really its not that bad either. even with 500 grain slugs going over 1200ft/sec.
it's only metal, we can out think it....

i just put a 460 on layaway two days ago. and can't wait to get it out. the 460 shoots four calibers so you don't have to go bankrupt shooting it. for me it'll be a range gun since i don't hunt but i do like large caliber handguns.

the weight of the gun combined with the muzzle break make shooting the 500 very manageable to shoot.

I just sold one (more of a trade, actually, for something I needed more). It does not have a lot of recoil, but the percussion and decibel level is in the stratosphere, somewhere, as is the cost of the rounds; no one makes sub par ammo for this revolver. If you want a pistol with recoil, get a DE .50 AE or a John Ross/S&W Performance Center S&W .500. It is not ported. Yes, you better be holding it when it fires.
BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.

Thumbs up Re: I shot a 460 yesterday

I agree that the recoil is less than I anticipated. We shot some of his reloads which were on the light side and it wasn't bad at all. In fact it was less than my 44 magnum with factory loads. The gun is rather heavy which I'm sure plays a part in the recoil.

The 460 is hands down the most accurate revolver I have ever owned or even fired. This is from 100 yards. You can't go wrong with one of these, they are great.

I'm still waiting to run into somebody with a 500 that is willing to let me squeeze a couple off.

While I plan on getting a .460 when funds become available and find your target very promising, my 10" Dan Wesson in .445 SuperMag would easily do that and slightly better.
I really wish I could have kept that one, great hunting pistol and hopefully the .460 when I finally get one will do the same.
