Re: Gun Shop prohibits guns
This should cover it.
I found both triggers to be terrible to me so the triggers are on a scale to me.. The Glock was a crisper suck and the XD was a more mushy suck. They are in the same family, SR9 (heavy suck), Glock (crisp heavy suck), XD( lighter mushy suck), M&P(heavy mushy suck).

Re: Gun Shop prohibits guns
This is really nothing new to gun shops.
Nearly every gun shop that I've been to that has a sign like that has posted it because of liability/safety reasons due to people bringing in guns to sell, trade, have smithed, or to fit to a holster/case. Most shop prohibitions really aren't aimed at folks carrying for protection, but rather at the folks with the guns with intentions to do business with that gun.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515

Re: Gun Shop prohibits guns
You're more likely to have an accidental discharge (or ND for all you terminology nazis) at a gun store than a typical retail establishment, because you are more likely to unholster or otherwise handle your gun.
Anyway I like the way Clayton's handles it, they just have a big sign on the door that says all guns must remain holstered or cased while in the store. The problem is not from CC'ers having guns, it's the small minority of CC'ers who test fit holsters with loaded guns. If you eliminate any unholstering in the store, you can probably prevent about 99% of accidental discharges, while still respecting the rights of patrons.

Re: Gun Shop prohibits guns
I would do that first. My experience is that they usually do not want CCW holders coming in and un-holstering their sidearm to check holster fit, cases, etc. That can, and does, lead to accidental discharges and makes the store liable as well as you.
A simple question to the management should end your questions. The above reasons is the answer I got from Bass Pro about their "Check Your Weapons" policy they have.

Cabelas is the same. Concealed carry is permitted but if you are bringing in gun for some purpose (i forget the wording) you need to unload at the little booth by the entrance and they take your gun back to the dept. I have no issue with this.

this would not happen to be ECGS? if so I found it kind of ironic when I saw that sign. Then saw an employee OC.

Re: Gun Shop prohibits guns
I guess someone forgot to tell all these gunshops "This is my safety" as they wiggled their finger in the shop owners face.
I like the "must stay holstered" rule.
If i need a firearm worked on, or want to sell or trade one, the gun i'm selling/trading/having work done to is always empty, action locked open.
Always.
