Taurus revolvers...what's your take?
I have owned a 627 6.5", 608 8.75" and a 94 4" Never had an issue with any. I did sell the 627 a few years ago. My mom has a 990 that had to go back to the shop because the cylinder binding.

Re: Taurus revolvers...what's your take?
Only ever shot a Model 94, but it pretty much confirmed what I'd read/heard. Finish was mediocre, trigger sucked, grip sucked. I won't say I'll never own one, but it's far from my first choice. IMO the old H&Rs give more bang bang for the buck, as does Ruger and S&W (obviously for more money, but well worth it in my mind). Call it bias on my part, but since you asked...

Re: Taurus revolvers...what's your take?
I've only ever handled one. It was a .22 of some nature. I specifically asked to see a Smith and Wesson. The clerk insisted I give the Taurus a look over first before I settle on the high cost of the S&W.
The timing was off on the gun. I handed it back to him and showed him. He sheepishly admitted it was and that he hadn't noticed.
I bought the smith and have had no regrets.
Fortunately Taurus does offer a lifetime warranty on their guns. Unfortunately for them, it seems a lot of people need to take advantage of that fact.
I wish Taurus made better quality guns because they do offer configurations that no other company offers currently. But I just can't do it. I'd rather spend twice as much money on a Smith and Wesson than get the Taurus.

There are ones that work, and ones that don't, but if i had to carry a wheel gun I'd only trust my life to a Smith & Wesson. If cost was an issue I'd just buy a used one.

Re: Taurus revolvers...what's your take?
Got a Tracker .44 mag w/4" barrel, ported. Even with the ports, it has a pretty good thump, especially when the rounds are hot; nasty muzzle flash, as well. It is controlable, but not quite a speed shooter. Trigger is very good and has not been worked on. Sent it in to correct the shaving bullets issue, but I had to send a Smith .500 in for the same thing (no longer in my stable).
Since I got it back from the shop (some three or four years ago), it has not missed a beat. The only thing I don't like about it is after 15 or twenty rds., the cylinder bores have to be swabbed (it does get cylinder lock unless the bores are clean). I will not be getting rid of it.BCM and Glock...for a bigger pile of 'cold dead hands' brass.

I have a model 66 357 and a model 85 in .38. I also have a few Rugers and S&Ws. Both my Taurus revolvers shoot just as well and have had zero problems. The biggest draw back of owning them is seeing the look on peoples face when I tell them its a Taurus. Its kind of like a too bad for you kind of look. Then I shoot the center out of my target with it and their opinions still dont change.

Re: Taurus revolvers...what's your take?
About a 10 year old mod 66 7 shot hear. Haven't had any problems. Shoots well. But it is a taurus... And I still couldn't get over the stigma. So I bought a S&W 629 .44Mag to make myself feel better.
Edit: the only thing I have noticed is the little "gear" that turns the cylinder seems to be wearing a little.
