Default This is what I am

I am a gun toting, Bible carrying, conservative. Where does that leave me in this day and age of socialist pushing, job killing, house taking country that we live in? There are more of you like me that are out there, so I would like to know where all of you stand on the subject of things like this.

    Religion?

Catholic, but not an extreme follower. Went to Catholic school for over 12 years and what I learned was basically "Trust in God....not his employees"
I don't see extreme value in attending church regularly. Mostly I see people in attendance just going through the motions, showing up to "be seen", maybe some out of guilt but very few going there with honest intentions.

I believe "God" should be in your heart not in some building, you should always try to be the best person possible and lead a good and honest life. Not much into the whole "give up everything over a religion" thing. IMHO religion has caused much more killing, harm and conflict than anything else in our existence.

    Guns?

Awesome hobby. Awesome Tool. VERY necessary to secure our rights and liberty. I'm not one to drool over them, clean them every day or hug them before bed... They are simply a tool to me

    Politics?

I'm conservative on some issues and liberal on others. I think it's crazy to be labeled as ONE party since its all an act and fantasy. No one is completely to one side or the other.

    Religion?
Was raised American Baptist. Really not practicing as I need to find a church that better suits me and the wife rather than the one I was raised in. I consider myself more spiritual than religious. But Jesus Christ is still my Lord and Savior.

    Guns?
    Damn skippy! I'm a member here aren't i?

    Politics?
Registered Republican. But I consider myself a moderate. I agree with the above post in that I am conservative on some issues and liberal on others. To be branded one way or the other just doesn't work for my ideals.

    Interesting thread...

Im not religious, but think the bible is a good book with a lot of good messages. I love my guns and have a bit of a C&R addiction at the moment As far as politics go, I am conservative when it comes to governments role in society, and liberal when it comes to things like abortion, gay marriage, and taking care of the environment. I guess I'm more of a libertarian?

    BimmerJon,

You are right with what you say that God should not be in a building, and you are right that alot of people in history have died over "religion" and I am a believer in God, I try to live to the best that I can for him, but God is not a religion, I dont think you should have a basic religious belief, you should have a relationship with God, that is what is important. you go to Church to worship with likewise believers, but your belief is in your "relationship" with God.

About the guns part, love them, own them, like to shoot them, and to practice my God given American rights and CC them, and OC them on occasion.

Definitely conservative in my own right, I believe that right now, left or right of the aisle, I think that we have WAY too many career politicians that need to go like pelosi and Boehner, and get fresh new blood, who cares about party, that actually cares about the people and want to work for us.....

    1. gun toting. . . yep
    2. Bible carrying. . . don't carry but keep it close by on the nightstand
    3. conservative. . . yes, both fiscally and socially

I am deeply saddened by this Obama power grab and implementation of socialism. Yes, career politicians are to blame. I'm a registered Republican who believes that the Grand Old Party has been corrupted and has fallen prey to democrat socialist ideals because those ideals get votes.

I want 'nearly non-existent' government, one that stays out of my life.

Longcall, couldnt agree with you more. To be almost not able to know that we have a government at work protecting us behind the scenes is the way it should be, and I am a registered Republican as well, and am embarrassed to have to see that the GOP has in fact fallen by the way side. The Republican party wants Mitt Romney to represent and I almost hope that Newt or someone can take the nod when it comes in from the primaries.

We just need to make sure that they are not taking our 2nd amendment away from us in the meantime.

This should be an interesting thread.

As for me I would label myself as a non practicing Catholic. I believe in God but not people for the most part. The adult years of my life have been very dark for me in most aspects, I felt like God was no longer listening so I haven't attended mass in years. Firearms have been a growing interest for me in the past few years since leaving the city. The one good thing about becoming an adult is it opened my eyes to many things and now I understand the importance of owning and knowing how to operate various firearms. Plus it's a fun hobby. Politically I fall into a grey area as I feel the two party system has failed all Americans. I am against this widespread social welfare system but also realize some people truly need help. I am also against the free trade act as I feel it's destroying our nation and our ability to build and design products is a national security issue. I try my best to find products that are designed and built here by American companies and try to minimize enriching foreign industry where possible.

    That's me in a nutshell.
Sanity, yours if you can keep it.....

Religion: Atheist. I can see how it is refreshing to live for something bigger than yourself, I just don't believe it.

Guns: are a tool, and I like to keep a full toolbox.

    Politics: constitutionalist

I am a Christian, specifically a Baptist, but I believe that the Bible is the authority on what to believe and it is the standard for all teaching regarding Christianity and I hold any religious leaders/manuscripts to it.

I love my guns, they are necessary for the protection of myself, my loved ones, and against extreme evil (such as mass shootings). I don't believe in using the government (outside of the military in defense of the nation as a whole) for my protection- I don't believe in the utilization of the police for my personal protection because they will fail and have failed at this aspect of their jobs WAY too many times in the past.

Politically, I used to be a strict republican. To be honest, nowadays I don't know who I support. I have lost all faith in most politicians- and have lost total faith in a two party system. I have come to the realization that they are all in someone's pocket (be it the brady camp, george soros, the oil industry, or the NRA) which I think is wrong. I don't think they can be trusted, I think that every one of them is overpaid, I think that both parties have progressively stripped us "normal citizens" of all power, and I think that nothing short of a complete restructuring of the entire government will ever fix it. That won't happen, and even if it did it could go so horribly wrong because of how idiotic the majority of Americans are anymore that I think that even this could land us worse off than we are.
All that said, I still vote every chance I get, I vote based on my morals to the best of my ability, and I choose the less evil of the candidates. For me, they usually end up being republicans. I am registered republican so I can vote in Primaries. I hope Ron Paul wins the next presidency, but I seriously doubt that will ever happen. Even with all this negativity, I still think the US is the greatest nation on earth. We have so many amazing freedoms to be thankful for in this great nation and so many opportunities others do not. I would never move to another country unless one was formed that resembled the colonies c. 1776-1800. I wish that all of the people who want to "change our nation for the better" based on the examples of other nations such as nations in Europe, Canada, etc. would just move there instead of trying to mess up such a good thing here at home, but again, that will never happen, since most of the people trying to "change everything for the common good" are people who's ideal government will feed, bathe, clothe, protect, educate, wipe their bums, etc. while they sit and do nothing productive.
