Another new member
Hi all,
I'm new to Pittsburgh and new to firearms. This is my first time living in a gun-friendly state so I want to take advantage of that for the next 4-6 years of my life.
So far the closest thing I have to firearm experience is airsoft and rifle drill during my brief stint in ROTC. I am not absolutely clueless, however, thanks to the internet and forums similar to this one.
My biggest question: I am here for grad school (I currently attend Carnegie Mellon). Are there any members of this forum that are current CMU students/faculty/staff and can tell me if there is such a thing as a university gun club or similar thing?
Thanks for reading.

Re: Another new member
Welcome!
I am an undergrad at CMU but I'm graduating in a few weeks. As far as I know, there is no gun club or any similar organization on campus. One of my computer science professors is a firearms-enthusiast and NRA instructor who has been known to take his students to the range on occasion. PM me if you want his details.
Also, FYI, CMU has a no-weapons policy except for on-duty LEO. They do, however, allow pocket knives and pepper spray/mace.

If you are looking to buy a gun (assuming you're living off campus) or just looking to become more familiar with guns and the culture of gun-owners, there is a gun show this Saturday and Sunday at the Monroeville Convention Center.

You can take the 67 PAT bus to get there and back.

Hopefully that information is helpful to you.
