Open carry laws are complex enough (and little known enough) to require multiple threads on these boards to gain an understanding. Why would we assume that these biz owners would understand any of it? Why even assume any have ever even considered open carry in their biz? I think the OP handled everything well, but maybe the owner should be given some time and information before everyone judges them as unfriendly to oc'ers. I imagine that immediate boycott emails would be threatening to a biz and may result in them making a hasty anti-gun policy instead of evaluating the facts. Just a thought.

This is one of the smartest things I've read here. I didn't really know anything about open carry either until recently, and I come from a family of gunnies. Maybe if the manager got a couple of emails explaining that open carry was legal, lots of people do it, and that you'd appreciate it if he'd let us do it in his place, he might be more likely to listen.

Instead, he's getting emails saying that he can go screw himself, he's not getting our money, and na na na boo boo, stick your head in doodoo. To which he'll probably, and rightly, tell you to stick it up your ass. Maybe if someone went there in person, not open carrying, and explained our side of things, and not stamp their feet like a spoiled kid, he might actually see reason.

Apparently people thought i was making a judgement call when i was simply pointing out that when being high-profile in public appearances matter. Since people seemed to be getting excessively defensive over it, I deleted it. Besides people post threads like this for a pat on the back and a "job well done", not constructive criticism.

That is a damn fine point and one I had been wondering about for a while. Some owners even believe CC is illegal unless you're a LEO.

That is the most sensible response I have seen in this thread. So true! I hear of so many people that, when they find out a place they like to frequent isn't okay with carrying, they act like children who cannot get their way.

Thanks. I think their FB admins maybe thought it would just move on down the wall and get forgotten. Now we're getting some interest going, I'd think they'll have to either address it or pull it from the wall.

Welcome to PAFOA, For a first time poster it looks to me as if you did everything correctly as a seasoned OCer,

some are expressing concerns about offering choices to the manager, You obviously determined that he did not know the gun laws and making him aware of his options was a good thing IMO,

this could have escalated into something really uncomfortable if not for your patience and willingness to offer reasonable options’. Good job, +1 rep inbound
