Default Man Passes Through Reagan Checkpoint With Gun

    http://www.myfoxdc.com/myfox/pages/N...Y&pageId=3.2.1

A man alerted Transportation Security Administration officials early Sunday morning that he had gotten through the main security checkpoint with a handgun, Fox 5 has exclusively learned.

Metropolitan Washington Airport Authority Police were called to the checkpoint where the man, identified as Gregory Hinkle, turned over his firearm and was given a summons for a misdemeanor for violating Virigina Code 18.2-287.01 which prohibits firearms in an airport terminal with exceptions for law enforcement and checked luggage.

This latest breach at Reagan National has air travelers disappointed but not discouraged. Passenger Rob Padgett said, “Their security is tight, it's tighter than it's ever been, so whatever the number of incidents is, it's not many, so, I trust it and I feel safe.”

The TSA released a statement to Fox 5 Tuesday afternoon which read in part, "TSA is aware of the security incident which occurred over the weekend. At this time the security officer who failed to identify the firearm is on administrative leave and a full investigation is underway. Appropriate actions will be taken once the investigation is complete."

So this man informs the TSA that he has a firearm and peacefully surrenders it. Has any real crime been committed? No, but they charge him and will probably get a conviction anyway. These sort of victimless 'crimes' are pure BS.

Not enough details to know wtf happened.

Does anyone really not know you can't carry a handgun past the security points leading to the terminals???

Again, not enough details. Cant tell if he was ignorant, criminal or "other".

Maybe he forgot he had the gun with him, like Huckabee's son.

My guess is that he only did it to see if he could. "Checking" how well airport security was doing their jobs. After all, WHY ELSE would you tell them that you got past with a firearm?

Was a crime committed, of course. He was in the secure area with a handgun. Should he be charged? I'm sure some will say absolutely, and others will say hell no.

    Good points.

    So now we have:

    Ignorance
    Criminal intent
    forgetful
    testing the security

Too bad the story doesn't give some more details we might actually know WHY he did it

When he spilled the beans, did he confess while still behind "enemy lines" with the handgun still on him? If not, he probably was just spouting BS for some attention and can't make a gun charge stick.
    I killed JFK.

Why would he turn himself in if he was testing the security. That does not make any sense.

Sounds like he forgot it, tried to do the right thing and ended up getting screwed. He shoulda kept his mouth shut.

How else would you let them know they're not doing their job well enough?
